Hi Guys

I'm in the market for a 2nd TV to hang on the wall of the playroom/study . I have a Phillips 40PFL9705 that I got from your good selves a few years ago. I will either use this as a 2nd TV or something you suggest. I would like have plex/RTE player so I guess a smart TV though its not a deal breaker. THe main use would be 'overflow' TV or xbox and watching movies.  Although I heard that due to some rights issue no TV manufacturer now has the RTE player. Flexible on make but budget sensitive. I think my top end is going to be  700-ish euro inc delivery to LImerick. Gutted I missed out on some of the openbox deals

So far the  UE48H6400 seems to be a front runner ...are there others I should consider

Thanks ...

I stand to be corrected ( I'm having one of those days ) but I'm pretty sure that the Samsung range still has RTE Player ( you just have to select ROI as your geographical region and it will allow you to download it subject of course to your IP address as well)

The 48H6400 is £549.95 /€799.99 and that price includes a 6 year warranty

Can you recommend any with a built in freesat tuner ?

I noticed this TX47AS740B on the UK website. Is this in stock or do you have an equivalent ?

Hi A Clanger.

Unfortunately the 47AS740 is a discontinued model. This is listed on the website as LAST FEW TO CLear as some of the mainland stores may have an ex-demo or ex-repair unit left but to avail of these you would need to collect from the store  that may have one.

First in line of the current screens in and around that size would be the Samung 48JU6410 priced at 1129.99 Euro.
http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201332-ue48ju6410.aspx
However this is an instore only collect and could not be shipped.

You could drop to the 40" version which is coming in at 1099.99 Euro
http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201323-ue40ju6410.aspx

Its getting fewer and fewer screens now that seem to have the freesat tuners for less than 1000.00 Euro.

Hi A Clanger.

For on to hold flat to the wall you would be looking at the Sanus  39.98 Euro
http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200142-vml5.aspx

A tilting one coming in at 99.99 Euro
http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200327-vlt16.aspx

And a full motion one priced at 189.99 Euro

Let me know what you think.

Hi a clanger,

Yes that one is available to ship from our UK warehouse on a 3-5 day delivery, included in the price.

For a fixed wall bracket the sanus VML5 - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200142-vml5.aspx#tabProductDetails-tab - would do the job for you at €39.98 including delivery

With regards to soundbars, yes you can get some slim bars for wall mounting, most are designed to go below a tv on the wall. They are definitely a good step up on standard TV speakers and worth doing.
Something like the Roth Sub Zero - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12624-zero-ii.aspx is a nice slim soundbar for not a lot of money, or a good step up would be the likes of Sont HTCT80 - http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201317-sony-htct80.aspx - at €198 which comes with a seperate subwoofer for a bit of extra bass

Have a look at these, and if anythoing else grabs your eye, drop us a post/PM

Cheers
Brian

Ac,

if you want to mount a soundbar really neatly under the TV ( even with an Artic bracket) have a look at this Sanus Bracket:

http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200135-fpa405-b2.aspx

Saves you even having to drill holes in the wall - the bars Brian mentioned are quite good but with a TV of the quality of the AS650 it would be worth going to either the new Yamaha YAS105 http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-201521-yas105.aspx at €349 of if you can stretch to it the Q Acoustics M4 is an exceptional piece of kit and its currently reduced to just €449 http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200641-m-4.aspx?swapstore=1

If you are interested in either of those - drop me a line and I may even be able to squeeze another tiny bit extra off as a Boardie special ;)
