iPhone 6, WhatsApp shows no contacts

    I just got a new iPhone 6 and am trying to set up Whatsapp without success. I'm running iOS version 8.4.1.

    When first installed, the app announces "none of your contacts are using Whatsapp". There are currently just three numbers in my contacts and I am 100% sure that all have Whatsapp installed. All three contacts have the full international dialling code. One is Canadian and two are Irish. My number is Canadian.

    I have ensured that the application has access to my contacts and have tried the usual restarting the phone and reinstalling the app. None of that has worked.

    Any suggestions as to the cause or better still, the remedy?!
