    Hi folks,

Can anyone enlighten me as to the position of furniture in a rented house - bed, couch, etc. - that a tenant has no use for, or believes they have something better.

Is it the tenants responsibility to find a dry, secure place to store the furniture?

If the tenant rented the property as a furnished property- they should respect the furniture and return it to the landlord in as good a condition as possible (normal wear and tear aside). If a prospective tenant is viewing a property and has in mind to use their own furniture- they need to ascertain with the landlord whether, or not, the landlord is in a position to store the furniture and let the property to them unfurnished. The landlord is under no obligation to accede to this request- and in most cases- would probably end up having to pay to store the furniture somewhere else.

If you want to use your own furniture- rent somewhere unfurnished- or agree with the landlord that he/she remove the furniture. Its not fair or feasible to chase the landlord down the road asking them to remove things that you don't want.

We really need to make more lettings unfurnished in this country!
