Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen a man around Claremorris walking a German Shepherd/ Alsatian. He is around a lot....it's a lovely looking dog but should it not be on a muzzle?

    Thanks.

You've a few options, you could ask the guy does his dog need a muzzle, or you could ask these guys

Or you could just, you know..let the guy and his dog go about their business in peace, and not start up a thread about them on the nations top discussion forum!:)

A quick google will tell you whether the dog should be muzzled or not.

Rules relating to certain breeds of dog

The Control of Dogs Regulations 1998 impose additional rules in relation to the following breeds (and strains/cross-breeds) of dog:

    •German shepherd (Alsatian)

The rules state that these dogs (or strains and crosses of them) must:
•Be kept on a short strong lead by a person over 16 years who is capable of controlling them
•Be muzzled whenever they are in a public place
•Wear a collar bearing the name and address of their owner at all times.

Better to check here if the guy is breaking the law , if op didn't check and the dog savaged a kid what would be said? Typical owner of these dangerous breeds say "my dog isn't like that"

Most dangerous dog in cork in 2007 was a ... terrier :D

Why is it better to check Boards.ie to see if a dog is required by law to wear a muzzle though?
Surely if the OP was that concerned the first port of call would be to check with a local dog warden, no?
Or do what other people who have replied on thread did and Google it.

OP, I know this thread has been moved from the Mayo forum, but after the many discussions you've been involved in here on this forum, I'm pretty sure you're well aware that GSDs and crosses thereof are required to be muzzled in public places, unless they are belonging to one of the exempted categories of RBs listed in the1998 Regulations.
    Thread closed.
    Thanks,
    DBB
