Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    ManUnited_Newcastle.jpg

Manchester United remain without the suspended Marouane Fellaini, injured Phil Jones, who has thrombosis, and Marcos Rojo, who is lacking match fitness, but Bastian Schweinsteiger could make his first start for the club.David De Gea will be out due to transfer speculation.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are likely to hand a debut to new signing Florian Thauvin but are without Daryl Janmaat after he was sent off against Swansea last weekend.

Moussa Sissoko should be fit for the game at Old Trafford.

    Opta stats

Manchester United have won five of their last six Premier League clashes with Newcastle (L1) and have lost just two of their last 25 top-tier encounters with the Magpies (W18 D5).

Newcastle have only ever enjoyed one Premier League victory at Old Trafford in their 21 visits, with that 1-0 win coming in December 2013 (D7 L13).

The Magpies have managed just two goals in total in their last four league encounters with the Red Devils.

Newcastle have lost more Premier League games against Manchester United than any other side (25).

The Red Devils have won 15 of their last 19 Premier League games at Old Trafford.

Newcastle have lost seven consecutive Premier League away games, equalling their record from October 1999.

The Magpies haven't lost eight successive league games away from home since a run of nine away losses in October 1977.

Wayne Rooney has scored 12 goals and assisted seven more in 20 Premier League appearances against Newcastle.

Rooney has netted only four goals, provided one assist and attempted just 14 shots on target in 20 Premier League games in 2015 so far. In 2014, he scored 16 goals and assisted five more in 28 PL apps.

Morgan Schneiderlin has run further than any other United player in both of their Premier League games so far in 2015-16 (7.7 miles v Spurs, 8.1 miles v Aston Villa).

Handy 3-0 win for the home side with Memphis being the main man and Rooney opening his account for the season, Schweinsteiger to start and play 60 mins

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

    Romero
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger
    Mata Herrera Memphis
    Rooney

2-1 to Man Utd. Rooney to finally break his duck for this season,as he loves playing against Newcastle. Wiljnaldum to equalise for Newcastle and then Herrera to get the winner.

I'm really liking the idea of Memphis against Steven Taylor/Vurnon Anita. Should have a field day.

Rooney to remain goalless until the 75th min when a fresh Hernandez comes on, scores a bicycle kick before running to the bench and screaming "suck it!" as he Stone Cold Stunner's Wazza out of the starting XI.

    2-0 United.

Have a good feeling about rooney today himself and mata on score sheet today i reckon about 3_0

Be careful newcastle fans can be highly sensitive about the "p" word.

Mata, Jan and Memphis really should be fluid across that line. Imagine being a defender and all three are interchanging? Nightmare to deal with!

Rooney getting the shíte shooting out of his system in the warm up!

Craig Pawson is the referee. He's the guy who screwed Bournemouth on Monday night with a number of cock-ups, yet here he is again.

    Crazy stuff.

    Ah have a shot Mata!

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

    Very positive start for United.

Howard Webb: 'too tight to have called that offside.'

If we could just stop hitting the ball off the Newcastle defenders from wide areas, that'd be great.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

    Time for United to score.

We have a goal difference to make up...
