    Hey folks,

Probably a stupid question, but wondering if I want to put money into my Revolut Turkish account from my Revolut Euro account, do I just do an exchange and it will go into the account. Cant seem to see an obvious way to just transfer between my accounts. Cheers

when you exchange the currency it sets up a balance in that currency and you can swipe between the various currencies to check spending and balance, its quite cool actually and i have five currencies at the moment

For anyone who’s travelled to the US with this, how do you find it? Any issues with it being accepted? I’ve swipe enabled on it which should help.

I’m traveling for 14 days in the US, am I better to load the majority of spending money onto the card, and keep a few hundred in cash, or what did you find works best?

    Thanks

It's perfect. Some places may take a while to process and actually come out of your account, usually bars and restaurants as they often process the payment later as they check if there's a tip to be added. So it's good to have cash for tips instead.

I was caught out with 2 or 3 payments that brought my account into negative territory as didn't have cash on us a couple of times so added the tip to the bill and the payment was processed after we returned home with the tips added.

As someone said, it won't work in some places like the pumps at petrol stations so you need to go into the cashier to pay first.

Relatively few places use contactless. In fact one place that did, despite it appearing the transaction went through on their terminal, it never got as far as Revlout. It was a hotel bar and they had our credit card details anyway and it eventually showed up there.

Anybody else have $1 from Paypal taken from their account. Payment is marked as pending. Just happened to both me and my OH an hour ago.

    Had you done any updates?

    If not block card.

Payment was just reversed. Just odd that it happened both me and the mrs at around the same time, but in separate locations.

A $1 payment and then reversal sounds like a test by PayPal that the card was legit when it was added
If you didn’t add the card then keep an eye on it

Added the card to Paypal about a month ago and went through that process then. No idea why it happened again.

Despite having my Revolut card attached to my Amazon account for years, I still get charged the pending £1 every time I order! It falls off after about a week at the most.

How often do you buy? They tend to do this if you change delivery address, haven't ordered in a while or even if you don't have the card details saved on you Amazon account.

Oh, and as OmegaGene says, by 'they' I mean Amazon, not Revolut.

Short few days in Budapest, every where I went took card and been using my revolut card all the time. I must say very happy with the exchange rates and the notifcation of transactions is always spot on.

Saved a small fortune by using it :)

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was commenting in relation to the person who has/had a similar experience with PayPal.

However, out of interest, I have occasionally used my ordinary credit card on Amazon in the intervening years and the same £1 charge is NOT removed, so it's not quite unrelated to Revolut.

I buy regularly from Amazon - same address, same card, registered on the site - at least twice a month. I also have my credit card registered with Amazon - they never take the £1 charge from that, though I very seldom use it at all!

    Its normal for any card.

    Nothing to do with Revolut.

    It's to check the card.

This is probably not anything to do with the Revolut end of things but just on the off chance someone has had the same.

I got a new ATM card from my Bank (BOI) recently and now when I top up my Revolut with it I always have to enter the CVV again and most of the time I need to do the Verified by Visa thing with the code via SMS. I never had to with my old card, is there anything I can do about it?

When you added the revolut a month ago did you verify the account with PayPal, they charge the account with a small feee and there is a verification code on the statement to complete account verification
I remember doing it when I wanted to withdraw from PayPal to Revolut previously

It's normal for any card the first time it's used on an account. It's not normal for the same company to continue taking that initial extra charge for every subsequent order. It doesn't happen with my normal credit card, on Amazon or anywhere else. I suspect it's because Revolut is a pre-pay card.

I'm not complaining about this or dissing Revolut - it's a great card - and I'm ok with the charge as it drops off in the end. It's just something that people need to be aware of on occasion.

Apart from the first time I used the card on Amazon I've never had this happen.

I think this has something to do with they don't take the money in full until the item/s are ready to ship too

    That seems be it.

Happens me many times on the same card.

Happened to me for a while when topping up with my N26 card. Was annoying to leave the app to approve it in N26 app Doesn't happen now though, just tops up immediately.

Maybe just takes a few top ups to be 'whitelisted'.

Hi all, im new to Revolut and happy with it so far. Set up the account and verified it with passport and selfie, just a few seconds. It works in any shops i use no problem and i have a virtual card i use for online shopping. It wont work for Wish but got around this through Paypal.
Got my BIC and IBAN and here is my question, they are both UK. Do i have to now request an EU bic/iban because of Brexit. Will they ever have an IE one. Thanks

It is a UK account. If you're topping up by bank transfer you'll have to send it as an international transfer using the IBAN. But it shouldn't cost you anything.

But topping up with a card is the quickest.

It probably does happen on your normal credit card but you are just unaware of it as "normal credit cards" normally don't show pre-authorisations in their online apps / or statements. You see it on Revolut as the transaction granularity displayed to users is more detailed.
........ It's just something that people need to be aware of on occasion.

Agreed, good to be aware of it. The way Amazon processes payments can be a pain for Revolut users - many here recommend purchasing an Amazon gift card using revolut and pay for the Amazon goods using the gift card to avoid some of the inconvenience.

That could be it alright, though it doesn't appear when I check my CC account online either. No big deal either way :)

Yes, I always use the Amazon gift card option now (they take the £1 for that too). If you buy a lot from Amazon sellers, a barrage of small amounts being debited together frequently triggers a fraud alert and a brief card suspension, so it's the best option IMO.

Bought petrol today and the card went through and off I went. Needed to top up the card after that but noticed the petrol payment hadn't shown up yet. I saw there was a technical issue with Revolut today so figured it would go through later. Now the transaction is showing up in the app but it says the payment was declined. What's my next move?

Go back to the petrol station or give them a call and speak to a manager and explain the situation if you’re worried, worst case scenario the guards call to the door asking you to go back and pay

Hope they get on top of these technical issues. If transactions appear to be going through but then decline, you could see places refuse Revolut cards rather than take a risk.

Is give it a couple of days and see does it sort itself out, people here have reported that kind of thing happening and it normally works out after a couple of days. You don't want to go back and pay again and both payments eventually go through.

That’s why I was saying to talk to the manager because he will know when the shop collect the credit card payments and can wait and process it again if need be
If it’s explained to a shop assistant they will just charge the card again, I’ve had payments not come up for a few days but never declined

Hopefully, but I wouldn't be surprised if the manager asked them to do the exact same thing, and you can't exactly refuse in that situation. Maybe a phone call would be best of both.

If you have a receipt you can prove you paid, that way you can leave it a few days and see if the payment goes through.

Why the guards will get involved? The issue here isn't with the customer but rather the issuing e-money (Revolut) and the acquiring bank. Op didn't commit any fraud or theft for the guards to get involved or anything like that, the payment went through as the POS accepted it but then it appears as "cancelled" so it might sort itself out.
Op, just get in touch with Revolut first via their chat and they should advise on the next step to take.

    Nobody mentioned fraud lol
The payment isn’t coming up cancelled which is something I’ve had in the past and the merchant claims the money at a later date, but in this case it is coming up on the app as declined
The guards get involved if the money isn’t paid wether it’s a forgetful customer or card rejecting the payment , it’s a regular occurrence with petrol stations and all the guards do is ask you to go back and pay but for some people this can be embarrassing with neighbours

Revolut chat is an idea but last time they told me they were busy and I was waiting 6 hours to get someone so a simple call to the shop to speak to a manager in the morning would be easier

Well, I was expecting a wait but it was fairly quick in the end, once I ditched Rita and got a live agent. Seems like the best course of action in these cases is to wait, as the petrol station will probably collect the money later. Here's what they said:

In this case, merchant probably will charge by an offline trasaction. The offline transaction is processed very similar to how credit card transactions work. If POS card terminal allows offline transactions, then authorisation can be made without the real time connection to the card issuer. Card terminal is not sending the authorisation request to us, as it happens with standard online transactions. In those cases, we are not able to block the funds as a cover for future transactions.

The manager wouldn't have a clue as he needs to call the bank and the guards won't get involved unless its the customer's fault. In this case the POS in the petrol station didn't decline the transaction and the receipt was printed so in this case it's between the issuing, acquiring and payment processing companies. Op has to wait and see and as of now no action is needed from his side unless Revolut gets in touch with him.

I am clarifying further on my previous post since you got your facts completely wrong as you assumed that the OP was at fault and the guards will be involved which is completely wrong and thus wasn't the right advice to give in the first place.
