No understanding of education awards !

Hi,

I've just completed a course via the Fitzwilliam Institute, a "Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Services"

I am about to be made redundant in work and they have offered to pay for another course, which I should avail of, if nothing else but to beef up the CV.

The Institute say they have nothing to follow this course, as it is a "masters level" - I have to be honest and say it didn't seem difficult enough to warrant a masters degree (and I don't think it's because I am so intelligent either )

Does anyone on here have any knowledge they can offer, or indeed some advice !

The postgrad diploma and masters are both level 9.

From my understanding there needs to be a dissertation element for it to be a masters. From my own course people that didn't do the dissertation were awarded postgraduate diplomas and those that submitted dissertations were awarded masters degrees. Both would appear to be on the same level on the framework of qualifications.
