You think that's laughable? Earlier this year, Chill offered me my renewal with a 50% increase because a 1.8 120hp petrol engine is "High Performance"

I got similar in my 125bhp Mazda 6 last year.

I've been told I made a mistake saying I was an engineer and should have put down IT. Can I ring them up? What if your job title is something like software engineer?

I remember seeing your quote Jim. Very impressive for a 3L.

'Twas alright. I had to knock 'em down from €628 IIRC. It was €495 last year.

Currently out of work at the moment. Reasons beyond my control. But i am a HGV driver by profession. The loadings professional drivers get is madness.

Bought new car last year, insurance went up 50 euro.
Renewal due this month, Chill rang me, said it will be 13 euro cheaper.
    Total of 518. Grand so..
But I need to move to Class 2 business use.
Stung for 940.90 for the year.
    :(

Is class 2 car insurance using the vehicle for work purposes?

Seeing the thread here It seems other people having the same problem as me.
Got quoted last year on a new Honda civic for 480euro and now this year cheapest quotes have jumped to 680euro.
Car is a 1.6 Diesel and I have over 10 years No claim bonus with no penalty points and no disqualifications.
Big Insurance companies like Liberty and Axa quoted me 1800euro, As a 35 yr old driver, that's mental! What am I a 17 yr old boy racer?.
Surprised this isn't in the news but with a Dublin gang feud and Irish water, I suppose it's not worth a mention.

Usually Class 1 is, but as I carry equipment, I need class 2.

Best quote I got is 2348 with First Ireland, I have 10,000km and they're coming out to install a box, this is the cheapest I got considering everywhere else was giving quote for 5-6 thousand alone.

    Dafuq?

What's this box for? For you to crawl into while an actuary from the insurance company comes down to repeatedly kick you in the arse for having the audacity to get behind the wheel of a car?

Probably a similar system to what boxymo has to monitor driving speed, time of driving, braking etc!

Seems to be the cheapest around too from some provisional checks online without ringing around, its not up for renewal until June 30th so I've some time to ring around.

Same named driver job. Nobody will quote me if I am the main policy holder. This is what Boxymo gave me:

    Gender: M
    Age: 18
    Car: VW Golf 1.4
    Year: 2003
    NCB: 0
    Claims: 0
    Points: 0
License: Full irish,1 year(Assuming I will get on the road next year)
    Cover: Comp

Main policy holder: 54/M, clean sheet,5 yrs NCB 10+ residency and license.

Quotes range from 990 to 1420,depending on km threshold. (8,000 to 16,000)

Bus fares for 180 days of travel costs 990 or less. but no fuel costs and no shaftings by robot actuaries.

I guess I'll humor the ***** and stay off cars until I emigrate :D

Bank of Ireland were cheapest for me this year. Didn't even know they did insurance until I saw this thread.

Have been with 123.ie for years but they were looking for €150 more than BOI.
Last year I had a 00 Merc CLK with a 2.3L engine and my premium was €500. I changed mid year to a 08 Citreon C4 1.4L and got a few quid back.

Last week they emailed me a renewal looking for €600, despite me having a newer car with a smaller engine. I got a quote on the website as new customer of around €500. Got BOI for €445. No interest either for paying monthly and smaller deposit too IIRC which is a bonus.

    Age: 36
    Cover: Comprehensive
    NCB: Max
    Full License 10 years
    No penalty points
