Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are restricted breed muzzle laws enforced in your area?

It doesn't seem to be the case in many places??

I believe they are from what I have heard around here. Its been a "friend of a friend told me" sort of thing!

I have seen a particular white van go around my local park from time to time, which I have been told is the warden.

Never heard of it myself. My brother has a staffing and it's walked daily and apart from the odd dirty look from passers-by he has never had any problems.

Nope. There's regularly a guy playing fetch with his bully in my area, lovely dog, mad about his tennis ball.

Only one case I know of but it was because the dog was/is vicious and was attacking dogs in the park every day more than anything else - I think the RB aspect of it was just a co-incidence /convenience to hold the guy accountable!

The only place I have ever seen it is in the dog park in Marley Park and it was the park wardens that was doing the checks.

Where I live, I see many restricted breeds walking around with no muzzle. Personally, as long as they have their dog under control, I don't mind the fact they aren't muzzled

Didn't even know there was such a thing, which gives you the answer really.

Had a couple of stray kittens mauled earlier in the summer :(

I've an Akita, always muzzled and on a short leash as per the law. I'm a responsible dog owner and I don't want to let the breed down...plus they're big dogs with huge mouths, I can see why they should be muzzled. My dog has no problem with it and if he did - tough!

Very rare to see it in my neck of the woods (Monaghan). There is one man who walks his rottie with a muzzle. He said it's nothing to do with the breed law, rather he *can* be dog aggressive and knows the damage he could do.

I have no issue with owners of "restricted" dogs going without the muzzle once, like with all other breeds, they keep them on a lead.
In fact, there are quite a number of terriers around these parts that could MORE than use a muzzle and short lead than some of the akitas/staffies/rotties I've seen!

Yes, have seen news items in the local paper about cases where it was enforced.

My local fella is a bit of a c**t. I have two huskies and the amount of inconsiderate people that think they are "dangerous" dogs is unreal. They keep saying that they shouldn't be left out, unmuzzled, etc. They only get problems off smaller dogs such as westies, jack russells, etc. My BIL had a rothie, that "technically" should have been muzzled. She was the most harmless and lovable dog ever. Would literally kill you with her weight from jumping up on you, or my kitchen table, :-)
