If anybody has snow please send pics - at least we'll all feel a little better.

Cold in sandyford this evening. Machine says 7 degrees but feels more like 4

    Sign of the times!

Average max here on this date is about 8C; that a relatively calm 7C after dark feels so cold is a tribute to the extraordinary mildness of the first 10 days in December!

Raining heavily again now (sandyford) and slightly windier

The Indo says we can expect Orange rainfall tomorrow - so it might turn to Orange snow in Ulster?

Orange rainfall warning as 100mm expected - with snow in places

Could i request that we use official quotes from Met eireann's page and not tabloid websites getting paid per clicks? Cheeeeeers :)

Anyways , went on a nice early hike up to 3 rock this morning. Got caught in a fairly heavy sleet shower half way up which we had to take cover from in the trees as it felt suddenly like -6 out with the wind! ha

I think its safe to say December is another write off in terms of cold and snow, maybe mid to late January may offer something better.

Amm.........I'm assuming you are looking past the potentially disruptive snow forecast for northern parts tonight/tomorrow?

most places will see rain, no snow for the east except maybe high ground. The only snow worth a damn comes from the east and that's what im waiting on! any low level snow tomorrow will revert back to rain so it doesnt really count.

For your location but for plenty a proper Northerly brings plenty of snow worth a damn xD

Looking over the charts 3/4 of Mayo's Met stations have had over 160mm of rain so far in December, with Markee in Sligo nearly the same, while both of Donegals stations have had over 140mm.

Cork Airport, Roches Point, Valentia Observatory, Athenry and Mt. Dillon are between 100-108mm, while the rest of the country is sub 90mm.

Casement has seen the least amount of rain this year with 693mm of rain, while Newport has nearly had twice as much rain as most stations in the country with 1916mm of rain, which is already a 40 year record.
