Anybody noticed this Winter so far is kinda opposite of Winter 2010 / 11. This is potentially the warmest December on record whilst December 2010 was the coldest on record.

Absolutely furious gusts and hail just hit the house here in West Clare, those winds were actually quite scary. Lasted about 3-4 mins but wow!

That rain and wind just hitting Shannon airport, winds gusting up to 47knots there!

Thats a fair increase. At 20:30 the wind at Shannon was 170 degrees 13 knots, at 21:00 it was 220 degrees 30knots gusting 47knots!

Nice hail shower here took the temp from 6.1c to 4.9c.
The netweather radar is showing sleet and even snow in some parts of the country atm.

Very cold in Galway with heavy hail showers and some rumbles of thunder, reports on local radio of cars going off the M6 due hail on the road, current temp 5 degrees

Just had a heavy hail shower near Athlone.
edit: that shower dumped 5mm of precipitation in about 10 minutes.

Fairly heavy in north wicklow at the moment, won't be many going for their annual trek up the hills tomorrow to walk of the turkey and mince pies if it keeps up.

Some large puddles on the side of the roads around here when visiting relatives earlier, not often to see that.

Been raining since I awoke at 7am. West Clare.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Looks like it will be windy on Sunday night/Monday morning even before the potential storm on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Nothing severe but gusts could get up to around 90 kmh widely with the usual stronger winds on the coasts.

The potential storm(s) after this are still in FI territory, could easily downgrade or track further away.
