Are there boats above Milford in the distance? Wondering to what they are moored to.

His sister in law was from Dublin...maybe she put in a nice word, weather here was certainly better than Russia's weather.

He could not work out how to access Ireland as apparently there was no road system....did some reading round this and there was a scheme worked out but it defeated them. One of the jarveys on the Ross Castle route has a fascinating tale on that too. Cannot get to the parking areas there just now for the floods

People forget how dry and settled early autumn was. Sept-October were lovely.
These last two months are the worst two consecutive months I remember.

Yes they were exceptional. Sept and October. Excellent trading days throughout and so many happy visitors.

Well Sep 11-13 was absolutely horrible. I've still seen worse months than these past two though.

Latest UK met office outlook until the end of the month looks bleak for cold lovers. Or any long spells dry weather for that matter. The Atlantic will remain in almost complete control. I think we may have to see what February brings in terms of a pattern change, if any.

January looks very average so far. Cloudy, wet spells mixed with dry, sunny spells and average temperatures. Very unremarkable!

No sign of cold weather yet at all?

No, those temperatures at the end of this week for example are pretty average or just a tad below - not much though!

Kindness to us old and cold! The more light each day the better when the temps plummet...;)

Strangely enough those showers that looked like they would be coming in over Galway all day have never arrived they just seemed to die out just before they reached here...

Because of December's conditions.... I'm talking 'bout January's conditions. Thus, without December, it wouldn't be "floods"

So it'll be cold as well as wet. Great.

    Not really! It'll be average...

It is amazing how quickly we adapt to situations. Planning out this morning and it is now routine to check road conditions online...One route is flooded but so far all others clear.. rain still deluging out there. Twitter does a grand job.

The good news for January so far here in Dublin is that not only is rainfall running at 400% of average but the temperature is about 1.2C above average!

It only feels cold because that's down from 3.5C above average in December.

Apart from December 27th, it has rained every day so far this winter in Galway city with 331mm recorded so far.

You will be eating your words yet. Major changes occurring threw the artic at the moment, models are getting to grips with the blocking so hopefully drier colder days for flood hit areas.

Seems to be a general theme of high pressure emerging over Greenland in the GFS ensemble set this morning , messy as they are to me they offer great hope for colder weather in about 10 days time. Frost and who knows, snow?
