Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was behind a bike yesterday in traffic when I noticed it had no mirrors
    Hardly road legal is it?

It is. Not all bikes are fitted with them.

Depends on year and bike type.

I didn't note the year on the reg but it was modern enough.
Not sure what type of bike it was either but the riding position was upright

Not legally needed but if fitted need to work, like lights.

Bikes don't even need indicators to be road legal IIRC.

No lights. Just don't be 40 minutes from your house 20 minutes to lighting up time.

The rules of the road does say "if fitted" for indicators, brake lights, and mirrors! It does say you must have lights though.

Is that not just a UK thing? You can get whats called a 'daylight MOT' for track bikes etc I believe

Requirements here I thought were headlight, taillight, & license plate light

Motorcycles at all times are required to have:

One head lamp: this is a lamp that when lit, adequately lights the road ahead with a white or yellow light for a distance of 99 metres (325 feet) (or 30.5 metres (100 feet) when dipped) and in the case of a low-powered motorcycle, a reasonable distance.
One rear lamp: this is a lamp fitted to the rear and when lit, a red light is visible for 152 metres (500 feet).
One rear reflector: this is a red reflector that can be plainly seen for a distance of 99 metres (325 feet) to the rear when the headlights of a vehicle shine directly on it.
Identification mark lighting: this is a white light illuminating the rear identification plate so that each letter and number is easily distinguishable for a distance of 20 metres (65 feet) to the rear.
