Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You know what's funny? If you take a look at the apartment, it's actually pretty normal. Gay porn, sex toys, photo of themselves. Sounds like a pretty standard place of anyone who likes to indulge in adult activities. Same goes for photo of themselves - I know loads of people that have the same.

It's just that he did an unbelievably bad thing that all these pretty normal and standard stuff are being given a creepy twinge. Also, if I were gay or watched gay porn, I'd be severely pissed off at it being called creepy.

Doesn't sound normal at all tbh.

I think watermelon is associated with black people in america sometimes in a derogatory way ala kfc?

    I honestly never knew that.

What the **** are your "statements" related too?

Had a look at 'all posts by' for Matt and by the looks of it every single one of his hundreds of posts are nonsensical. The rest of us are either on a different plane of consciousness to him or he's a bot.

Who isn't? Both are delicious. It's among the stupider stereotypes.

Bill O'Reilly on Fox News puts this (and other shootings) down to a lack of religious belief.

Wooooowwwwwww. The stuff this guy comes out with.

Seems as reasonable a theory as the mental illness angle.

The popular host continued, claiming that over the last 40 years, only secular atheists and agnostics have committed murders.

    Yes, very reasonable.

His behaviour is a little odd, maybe it's a cultural thing. For me, grieving is done in private, not in the limelight.

I think overall it is a cultural thing.

One of the toughest aspects of getting used to life in the States for me was how extroverted they are, everything is articulated, your thoughts and feelings are expected to be public and people weigh in and respond and react to what, to my Irish sensibilities, were deeply personal matters.

I worked in media over there for a brief time, one of my Irish colleagues at the time told me "the thing about Americans is they run towards the camera. Irish people run away from it."

That, and Chris Hurst's day job, combined with the numbing shock of the whole affair and it's not surprising to me that he's autopiloting himself on the airwaves, flaunting scrap books and "our love" and trying to counter-act the perpetrator's attempts to blacken her name with the ounce of sanity he has left.

I do agree that it looks odd, and inappropriate, and dodgy, and cringeworthy and a bit embarrassing. I'd hope that if it were me, my family or perhaps my employers would have a word in my ear and help me to reign myself in a little. But I don't agree that it's borne out of some cynical opportunistic attempt to have his 20 seconds.

i love watermelon and fried chicken too but my pasty Nordic skin tone and inability to dance with any skill calls your theory into question

Honestly, I don't actually see the problem, what he's trying to do is deflect the attention and coverage away from the shooter because that's what all these mass shootings are about, their own sick personal glory, their manifesto's etc 'the world will know me'. He cited other mass shooters like Dylan Klebold/Eric Harris, The Virginia tech shooter as his heroes. Sometimes the media focus far too much on the shooters rather than the victims, and then that in turn of course encourages other wierdos seeing all the attention they get to seek their personal glory and get attention by doing the same thing.

I think that's what this guy Chris was trying to do was trying to make the story about Alison, her life story rather the shooter, and he's just right IMO. Let the world know who she was and his memories of her, I wouldn't even bother mentioning the bloody gunman's name, or his 'manifesto', f*ck him.

Only he himself knows what he is doing. It is clear speculation on all our parts if he has an agenda or not.

Someone should definitely take him aside, I 100% agree on that. The whole incident has become about him and his 9-month relationship with his girlfriend, which in the scheme of her life is very miniscule. There seems to be a real focus on him expressing how serious they were: we were the love of each other's lives, we had talked of marriage, I spent her birthday with her family. Everything about her has become about him.

And this is why, for no other reason, he should stop with the interviews now. He even said when showing the scrapbook of personal photos that he was not sure if he should make them public but decided Alison would have wanted him to because their love was genuine. It seems an odd reason to open up about their private lives together to the world. They were a couple. How more genuine can their love have been?

    That's usually Mike Huckabee's bailiwick.

I've not watched the video. Still frames were enough.

Rather him celebrating/grieving about his relationship with his girlfriend giving her the attention, than talking about that prat and his manifesto.

The media giving excerpts from his manifesto basically are giving the killer what he wants - his message to the world. That's what its all about to these guys, that's why he waited for them to shoot live so the whole world would see it.

Apparently in his 'manifesto' he quoted saying how much admired the columbine killers and the Virginia tech shooter saying 'that's my boy right there'. You see the media spent so much time covering those killers, who they were, what they ate what they drank, every nitty gritty detail about them possible and not the victims, that angry people like Vester Flanagan have become inspired clearly by their 'fame' and their subsequent 'manifesto's', they thrive on this attention they got, thinking 'wow the whole world knew them in great detail, they'll know me in great detail too!'

Honestly who cares if he shares a few photos with the world with his girlfriend, at least its nicer and far more deserving for her to get the media's full devine attention than that scumbag all over our TV screens. The media in the event of these massacres should be doing two things:

1)Mourning the loss of the victims, who they were etc
2)Invoking a discussion on how to prevent these tragedies from occurring again

A lot less so on the personalities of the killers, and what manifestos they have.

That is a horrible killing to see on live TV. I'll say that the poor families now are extremely heartbroken for their loss.

RIP to those two journalists killed. :(

Am I the only one on here who hasn't seen any of the footage of the shooting yet?

I've followed the story quite a bit now, watching the interviews from the father, the boyfriend etc. I even went onto the wdbj7 website to watch old clips of Alison Parker doing her on air live work just to see what she was like, random rubbish like this - http://www.wdbj7.com/video/wdbj7s-alison-parker-goes-through-a-sleep-study/31522520 - , so so depressing that the two people in that video are gone.

But I've not seen any of the footage of this shooting and I have no absolutely interest. My brother has, telling me about all the screams etc, but then again he's seen ISIS execution videos, beheadings, the Jordanian pilot being burnt alive etc. I must be a bit of a wuss and bit weird like when it comes to stuff like this I don't know, everyone else I know has but I can't bring myself to see these things. The only videos I've seen of her are like the ones I've shown above.

I don't get why anyone would watch stuff like that myself.
