Hello, I'm currently in the process of doing a design brief for a domestic dwelling, to be designed by an architect
It is my first time to do one of these

Has anyone got any good links or advice on how to approach a brief.
    Cheers

It might be helpful to look at the sections on Working With an Architect on the RIAI site:
    http://www.riai.ie/consumer_services/working_with_an_architect/

I also found the following books helped:

Architect Your Home, Hugo Tugman, Collins & Brown
Building Your Own Home, David Snell, Ebury Press

These materials are useful to start the process of self-education so that you will have some idea of the fundamentals of design and construction. As far as your actual brief is concerned the discussions with your architect will be by far the most important part of the process.
