Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tipuric again. Giving Murphy a masterclass in breakdown work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,308 ✭✭✭✭.ak

Not a chance tipuric supporting his own weight there

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Was Tipuric not the tackler there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

We're not dealing with it but Tipuric was not even trying to support his weight. He was lying on the ruck, competing.

    Tipuric is the boss.

He isn't. They've had lot more ball and we have been giving lot of penalties etc

Not the only one. Surprised either AR's haven't been on mic to Joubert talking about Welsh offside in midfield all game...

Ref is shocking at the breakdown.

Nicely weighted. Think it was covered, but good attempt.

Why do Sexton and wingers keep kicking the ball around the edge of the 22?

If Earls gets the chip it's a try Quinny?!

He was going to get pushed out anyway.

Hendo having a very good game. Such a physically dominating player and quick feet for a man of his heft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,616 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Wow, he absolutely bossed that collision.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

Henderson has shown some mutant strength in this half, he looks even stronger again than last season

given the quality of both, i think so. i really think we are just forcing thinks too much. last few minutes we went through a few phases and made progress.

As had to be said for the other players in the previous two games, it's their first game of the season. Unless they are absolutely diabolical I'm not going to read much into it, even if it is frustrating

I'd love to see Henderson and SOB in the back row in the 2nd half.

Front 10 need to be better in the 2nd half. It'd be nice to see us keep them further up the field.

Well, putting aside those undoubtedly on the plane...

    Winners:
DK has looked very sharp and lively without doing anything too groundbreaking. North hasn't had a sniff.
Fitz looking comfortable at centre, tackling anything that moves against Welsh first choice back line. Picked one or two decent lines but was hammered in contact. One nice kick through.

    Losers:
Earls looking very lively and made a really nice catch on the first kick off but has looked nervy since then and made several errors including 3 knock ons and being beaten on the touchline in a tight space. Will travel as he's too good not to but reckon he's put himself out of the discussion for the 11 jersey in the first team.

Not sure what to make of White. Probably on the loser list overall as he just hasn't popped up around the field enough, being beaten in defence once at the side of a ruck and the scrum has been a bit of a ding dong battle.

Yeah they've been poor. POC anonymous too.

Best performers so far are McGrath, Henderson, Henshaw and the Kearneys. POM has been good too, Luke Fitz has been solid.

Welsh scrum in trouble and it's more or less their first choice front row against our second choice, once Joubert finally allowed a contest on the Welsh put in they were well beaten.

Wales are really going to struggle in Twickenham, I don't see them getting out of their group based on this showing.

We need to stop trying that little inside pop pass. It hasn't worked yet, Wales are reading us like a book.

The free-for-all nature of the breakdown means we're getting a lot of slow ball, and the half backs are a bit rusty...when we do manage to play at pace, we look like we're well able four Wales. Expect us to kick on in the second half now.

At the game. Drab atmosphere (ish).
Even before the try, Henderson and strauss were the picks for me. Both kearneys doing well too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,616 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Henderson is the closest thing Ireland have had to a dynamic (retalick) style lock in a while, and I love it.

I thought fitz's pass for sexton at the end there was a beauty.
