    Hi All new here! Just wondering when doing a water change should the light and pump be off.
    My fish seem very frightened when the process is going on.

    Yep, unplug everything while you're doing it. I'd leave the pump and heater off for a while after too, to let any substrate settle back down so it doesn't clog the filter.

    They'll be a bit freaked out but they'll get over it.
