Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Turns out 3 games was too small a sample size on which to draw any conclusions on our new found "defensive solidarity"

Mamadou sitting on the bench must just be wondering...

....was his mistake vs West Ham last year as bad, or worse?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

This is the true Liverpool defence. We can't keep relying on referee errors to get us clean sheets. We're awful at the back and Lovern really is pathetic.

Apart from Firmino's shot from distance we haven't even created a half chance yet, never mind a clear opportunity.

I honestly can't work out Rodgers' blind faith in Lovren. He was able to drop Mignolet for Brad ****ing Jones but seemingly won't even consider getting rid of Lovren.

To find the positives surely that's Lovren dropped for next game.

Gomez is shot for today, get him off at HT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Lovren is a man who simply cannot handle the pressure it seems
What he did there made no sense whatsoever
He passed ball to a West Ham player within 4 feet of him who passes to Noble to score.
    WTF
I can only conclude that it was the Kop that made him so nervous, nervous to the point of nothing thinking straight.

    Nasty tackle from Noble.

Milners a good player..... he's not a captain.

    Great from Can.

Where was Lucas when Noble was there to pass it in?
    I have no idea.

gomez is a real talent, but cannot cross off his left foot.

    He's a vice captain

Gomez off, Moreno on and Lovren off, Sakho on has to happen at HT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

    Need a goal before HT.

    Lovren is an absolute spoofer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭ThunbergsAreGo

    Ibe for Gomez

Who is the captain in this game if not Milner?

I honestly can't work out Rodgers' blind faith in Lovren. He was able to drop Mignolet for Brad ****ing Jones but seemingly won't even consider getting rid of Lovren.

It can only be his ego that is blinding him.

    Ffs Firmino.

Lovren played 3 fairly good games before this, would have been strange for him not to start today.

Ah here, almost everbody has been banging on about how good Lovren has been at the start of this season, so saying why you cant understand Rodgers hasn't dropped him is a ridiculous statement. The guy was playing well, there would have been plenty people asking what the hell Rodgers was at if he was dropped for today

That will never happen under Rodgers.

Fairness to West Ham, tactically they have sh@t all over Liverpool.

He had to get back and win it after losing it and then getting rounded like he wasn't there

He needs to start getting on the ball more & try to make something happen, not good enough so far

He must have just said to Lovern that he'll give him games at the start of the season no matter what to prove himself. Let him play his own game without worying about being dropped.

That nonsense from Lovren for their second goal is pure Lovern, always has that within him. He's just not very good at all.

Kop will need to suck balls big time in second half.

About 6 feet away trying to block the shot. How can you have no idea?

    No they haven't.

Lovern has been ok so far this season, nothing more.

I don't think Lovren was playing well though. He was decent against Stoke but since then has made plenty of mistakes, but has been lucky enough to get away with them. He hasn't done anything to convince me that he's a better option than Sakho over the last four games.

He praised Lovern afrer the Stoke game never heard a whisper out of Rodgers about Sahko against the Mancs at home last season.

Benteke has barely touched the ball as an attacker.

I think he gave a couple of 6/10 performances when our tactics were far more defensive. The fact is that he shouldn't even be at the club in a position to start games. He's the worst one on one defender i think i've ever seen.

Should be 0-0 but for two indivdual errors
It would then be a game Liverpool have dominated

Definitely his mistake originally but nice to see after a couple of season s with an undroppable midfielder who would just stop and watch.

There will be a fair few boos at half time I reckon.

Every attack ends with a poor inside pass from Gomez

Individual errors my @rse...We've created nothing and they've looked dangerous on every counter attack.

True - but he literally just did the same thing just now - needs to get up to speed but sure that could be said of the whole team

Seriously, Clyne & Coutihno (who's not getting space) seem to be the only ones not in dreamland out there

    Don't bother.

Referee not falling for Coutinho's diving.

    Great first half.

Lucas offering zero defensively. Get him off for a striker.

Lucky to only be 2 down.

Rodgers needs to rescue this or the pressure is on

Liverpool badly need some width out there, it's all way too narrow.
