The picturesque seaside village of Roberts Cove, not far from Carrigaline, will awaken to the a flurry of activity and the sound of motorcycle engines as organisers and competitors prepare for the annual Cork Motorcycle Racing and Vintage Club’s Hill Climb on September 13th. The Hillclimb returned to Roberts Cove last year after an absence of a number of years, with the quickest time on the day going to Cork rider Ray Casey, taking the King of the Hill title from a field of riders that travelled from all over the country.

New to this year’s event are the addition of a class for quad bikes while side cars will also make a demonstration appearance. Riders will also compete for class honours in five other categories including - Classic Superbike class for motorcycles that are pre 1993 and where the combined age of rider and bike is 70 plus for men and 60 plus for women. Other classes include - 600cc plus triples to 675cc. Up to 530 cc plus Single cylinder machines up to 700cc and 650cc twins. Pre injection 600cc and twins to 750cc. Plus 601cc - 1010cc.

Fans are in for a feast of motorcycle racing from the 50 entries which will see Ray Casey defend his title while other riders include great names in Irish motorcycle racing such as Declan Swanton, Stephen Tobin who scored his first win at Faugheen Road Races recently, Dave Butler and Ted Brady who recently competed in the World Wheelie competition at Elvington in the UK, all gunning for the King of the Hill title.

The course is fast and has many vantage points, ideal for fans to get the best views of the action as riders demonstrate their talents against the hill and the clock. The action begins at 10am on September 13th, where Roberts Cove will be the ideal family day out with lots to see and do.
