Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Correct.

    Full list

    Dublin minor hurlers last year:
    Matthew Oliver full back
    Cian O Sullivan winger
    Paddy Smith - Centre

Dublin Minor football involvement last year:
    Kevin Callaghan -

Dublin minor development squad this year
Darragh McKenna - 2nd row, 2 years ago, winger in TY.
    Rory Clarke center/wing
    Mark Donnelly wing

All JCT players last year or year before

    so starting 15, 14, 12 & 5 from the JCT team in 2014.

and starting 15 & 11 from JCT team in 2013.

Assume no chance any of them will come back?

    Yeah.

    Yeah.

Assume some lads will be lost from the 2015 JCT team?

Didn't know that losing players to GAA was so common in Belvo.

I'm not sure where the majority of Belvedere students are from but has this always been the case and does it have anything to do with the rise of Castleknock GAA? Because that club is well on its way to going from obscurity in 1998 to being a future Kilmacud Crokes or Ballyboden and seems to have done an unbelievable job at attracting players.

    More than likely.
    It's a recurring trend.

Especially now the GAA minor tournament has been reduced from u-18 to u-17.
It will impact the TY development squad more than the 5th year senior players.

It may give more lads who play GAA the chance to play JCT in 3rd year, focus on GAA in 4th year, come back to rugby in 5th year as they will be overage for GAA u-17 squads and then pick a sport in 6th year, hopefully rugby.

It's not just Castleknock GAA club. It's Brigids, na Fianna, Vincents etc.
These are huge GAA clubs that the lads would have played with since they were 5 or years of age.

Then you have the influence of the Dublin and Meath development squads as well, and, in many cases, players being asked to make a choice between the codes.

Castleknock GAA is affecting Castleknock College.

Some club lads manage to balance GAA careers with rugby.. shame same doesn't really happen in schools rugby.

Has a huge catchment area though, definitely has Belvedere students in their underage squads.

probably.. Dublin GAA is a massive machine and extremely well run.. always going to be a battle at underage to get athletes picking rugby over GAA

Belvo 7-0 great try, few early handling mistakes in the game.

    Try Belvo.

    Converted by 13 Jennings

Handling mistakes expected all afternoon with slick conditions.

Michaels penalty after ref missed Michaels in at the side and pinged Belvo instead

Belvo soaked up serious pressure there.

    17-3 at half time

    Yeah.
    Agreed.
Can see one in the second half for repeated infringements

Michaels no angels either tho with a late hit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

Second try for Belvo off a clean line out for McKeown

    Conversion missed

    22-3 Belvo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 323 ✭✭sfbdqc

Belvo are serious explosive, have to be favourites in final. If they can get parity against Roscrea's pack they could open them up in the backs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

Michaels try scored by Michaels captain at FB

    Converted

    22-10 Belvo

    Kearney off injured

That's it then. Great game.. Michael's will be left wondering what if.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,758 ✭✭✭RedemptionZ

Absolutely bottled by Michaels. Those two intercepts were from unnecessary risk. The second one especially. So stupid. Think they could've won. Thought Belvo should've had a yellow at some point too.

Belvo are a lethal team. Should be one hell of a final. Backs vs Forwards.

    You think they will be?
After being dominated for the first 35?

Don't get me wrong, Michaels grew into the game but the referees inconsistency was appalling.
Penalty count was massively skewed and he appeared to only be reffing one team at the break down.

    I said Belvo by 8-14.
    Happy with that.

Lots to work on but at least the line out maul Defence has VASTLY improved and will need further work for the threat CCR hold in the final

Two intercepts when they were on top?
A poor 1st half, of course they will be.

Belvo are deserved winners but it was much closer than the score would indicate.

Hope Belvo do it in the final now, backs like that should be rewarded.

Michaels had some great individuals. Kelly at full back will be in the irish u20's squad next year surely. Dunne in the second row looks a prospect aswell. Penny the 7 is only a fourth year, he was seriously impressive also. Belvo probably deserved it though michaels could easily have won it if they hadn't gifted 14 points to belvo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭Quint2010

I fear for Belvedere in the final. The weather on the day will be a massive factor. If it's dry I'd fancy them. But otherwise....

Penny was very good, very small though. Hopefully he has a growth spurt over the summer. Better player than his brother.

Same as most Michael's teams in regards to some excellent individuals who could push for the academy.(Kelly,Kelleher,Byrne,Dowling,Dunne)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 323 ✭✭sfbdqc

Hopefully players like Jennings & McKeown can push on and be factors for Leinster u20 next september, maybe Sexton too.

Cagney is u18 next year and i'd be shocked if he wasn't Leinster u18 scrumhalf.

Just been told by a mate that a decent lot of that michaels team are underage again next year. The hooker, both second rows, the 7, the half backs, a centre and a winger and another winger chris carey who didn't play due to injury. Plus a few subs aswell including james Ryan's younger brother. They seem to always have a lot of 4th and 5th years in their teams every year although Kelly is definitely the best player they had this year.

For all the talent Michael produce, they really should have more than one cup to show for it since the start of the decade.

Just looked at odds Paddy Power Belvo 2/9 Roscrea 11/4 What sort of a spread is this suggesting for Belvo -10 ? There must be a wall of money on Belvo to justify these odds. Roscrea a great bet in a two horse race especially with record of winning last year.

Belvo hunger and desire for revenge v Roscrea chip on the shoulder for again being seen as second best and winners experience

No idea who will win but there is only one team to bet on with these odds even if you are a Belvo supporter. Winnings will compensate for game loss and who cares losing a few euro if they actually win
