Wonder why they won't put our other rte radio digital services the same frequency.

RTÉ is an extremely illogical organisation and probably think that nobody listens to radio on Sky.
They have to keep something exclusively for Saorview after all....

They better turn off DAB in areas that have it so.

So I was right the SD channels now moved from uk spot to euro beam. That frees up their old transponder for freesat.

TV3 are always lagging behind just always, they are deadly. I'm sure UTV Ireland will head for the ITV family.

I'm sure TV3 will join TV3+1 at 11836H, at the last minute of course...

My bad on UTV Ireland, they are on 12188H, PID 4012.

I'm scanning these SD channels in (non sky box) but only rte 1+1 seems operating.

Still HD pack only or available to all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

RTE 1 HD is there on Sky for but is giving a 'have to upgrade' message :( Surely don't have the HD pack to get it, I don't have RTE 1 at all now.

RTE +1 says its launching at 7 so maybe it'll come on then?

Quick question.... on the +1 channels, are they always SD? And if so, why can't they be HD also?

I must have a look at these on a Sky Box but it look as though the SDT hasn't been updated with service names except for RTÉ1+1.
I reckon once they have RTE1 HD etc. sorted, they'll carry on with the testing and changeover of the SD services.

    More bandwidth = more cost

    OK thanks! Just curious.

101 for me is RTE1 HD and is blocked
102 for me is RTE2 HD and is fine

Hope they sort it out quickly one way or the other that I either get HD or SD on the 101/2 slots rather than 277/8

So it took two years for RTE1HD to launch on Sky, just remember that RTE1 HD Launched on Saorview on December 16th 2013, almost two years ago Wednesday. I wounder if we will ever see TG4HD on Saorview, Saorsat or even Sky because as far as I know TG4 HD is currently only available on UPC/Virgin.

Maybe the utter ****e that RTE continually produces that isn't even befitting of 576i black & white, never-mind 1080p?

Well we all know this but it took 2 years due to technical and financial issues.

I'm just glad we have finally have it,no point in looking back and complaining.

TG4 HD would never make me move to Virgin Media.

Quick question from a newbie. Does anyone know if this will work on the Sky platform in the UK?

RTÉ One +1 on sky not working.... this is what was happening during testing too which is very strange.

RTE One HD should be also available in Northern Ireland, unfortunately It's unlikely to ever be available in England, Scotland and Wales.

If you are with Sky RTE1 and RTE2 are on channel no,s 277 and 278 respectively.
I will not be using the HD ones have no interest in HD or 3D I think its all just a way of taking more money of us.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Odd that would be the case given RTE Two HD is there. No doubt it will happen at some point down the road. RTE One+1 less surprised about.

+1s on HD is only waste of space and of course higher cost to the broadcaster, its only a channel shown an hour later, any shack of a picture will do for +1s.
Its the same crack with Saorview where commercial broadcasters cannot afford to go HD because of ridiculous charge by 2rn etc.
    Sin e an sceal.

What surprises me most is sky have allowed RTÉ One +1 launch on the EPG without the channel actually working..

Yes RTÉ and sky have signed an agreement for it to happen - at this stage I think it will almost certainly happen after Christmas now...
