Can tesco mobile be unlocked?

    I bought a bill pay Tesco phone because it was the only decent phone on the market and at such a great cost I knew I was getting it unlocked from day one to use a meteor sim in it because I don't want to be stuck with a 089 number. I brought it in to Moore street and they said it can't be unlocked yet its a Alcatel one touch idol mini 2 and its cause its only a brand new model what the hell? Can't they unlock all phones though? They said to contact Tesco so I did and they said to ring back after a few days and they'll give it to me? Will the code work I really don't wanna be stuck with this network I just want to use my meteor sim in it! I didn't think it would take this long or this much trouble to unlock the phone

    surely that's a Prepay mobile? Usually operators want you to put in €130 credit over 6 months before they unlock?
