excellent article, however unfortunately those who are screaming for rent controls here are only looking to the short-term and the next election rather than the actual implications

I am renting now and would be against rent controls. Just had a E100 rent hike for the place that I live in that I hate, trying to find somewhere asap, but the situation in Dublin is beyond a joke at the moment. Rent control is drastic step in my opinion and the solution here is very simple, there just isnt political will...
