You might consider putting a warning if you are going to post links like that in future. Tks.

No but some people might find some of the imagery offensive. I work in an open-plan studio. It's just basic interweb etiquette. YMMV

In fairness they do appear to be mostly actual cyclists rather than random models in high heels draped over bikes.

That's not a very strong defence I'm making.

2.5 year sentence for dangerous driving causing death of a cyclist, driver was disqualified from driving at the time.

Not only was he disqualified from driving at the time, he had NEVER held a driving licence and had been disqualified from driving THREE times.

But he came for a hard life, god love him. Seems to be your get out of jail free, or early, card these days. If you're ever looking at jail time, blacken your families name, tell the judge you've found the love of your life, and you're laughing.

They say he's at a low risk of offending. So he finally learned his lesson after reoffending 15 times already? FFS.

Yeah and he also completed a skills course!

Surely the DPP will appeal that sentence.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

The family have said that justice hasn't been served so I would guess it might be appealed alright. A hit and run resulting in death, banned for driving having never even having a license, 15 prior convictions, and the judge sees this as at the lower end of medium severity?

Not particularly (I've seen you in Lycra for example, that's enough to disturb any young mind :p). And yes, 99% of the stuff on that feed is what most people would consider innocuous. But this is the cycling forum. Not the 'Kortni Kennedy' glam shot forum. I think a warning is a reasonable thing to suggest.

Think you need a warning googling who Kortni Kennedy is NSFW either!

    Jeepers....

Anyway, Taxi Drivers really hate cyclists, came very close to being flattened this morning while on a Dublin Bike, I had to give the side of his car a slap to warn him I was there, he then turned into me altogether and started abusing the life out of me. Told me he'd 'do' me if I touched his car again. I probably don't need to tell ye what happened next :)

Recently I noticed that the (red) cycle lanes in Templeogue Village had been removed. They were shared with the footpath. Only the section from Austin Clarke Bridge to Templeogue Tennis Club has been removed. The setup in the centre of Templeogue Village is unchanged.

Today I see that they have added a few broken lines on the road which are the new cycle lanes. I know that the broken lines indicate an advisory but the distance between the broken cycle lane lines and the centre of the road is quite narrow. It looks messy and seems a recipe for close passing. Time will tell, I suppose.

I can't complain as I never used the previous ones that were on the footpath.

I'f be interested to hear what others think of the new setup.

Anyway, Taxi Drivers really hate cyclists,
We used to have a poster around here who was a keen cyclist and a taxi-driver. As with all classes of drivers (and indeed cyclists) there is some hateful behaviour out there from a small minority. Please be careful with such generalisations

Yeah, and its their athleticism and prowess on the bike that's been celebrated on that page  they're being objectified as objects of sexual predilection, reduced to an image, a one dimensional being, an object. not the talented athletes most of them are, which is pure and utter bullshyte. Awesome

You could say it irritated me a touch...

That's probably worse. Proven athletes, having their accomplishments ignored and being turned into eye candy to titillate men who spend their days behind desks wondering what went wrong with their lives.

    Re the nsfw question:

Is Facebook browsing appropriate for a workplace in general?

I don't read boards on my work machine. That's what the phone is for.

I have two screens and as part of my role as a recruiter I would check people out on social media. At times I still have to close it quickly, Facebook in general is NSFW.
I had 'liked' Slash, guitarit from Guns N Roses and a few weeks ago the page started posting NSFW images every day. It's all about shock value now
