Hey, I'm from sligo but moving to galway shortly.

We have a great outdoor workout park here with bars and rings, dip bars, everything really.

Is there anything like that in Galway??

    Cheers.

Is that.... anywhere near, ummm, the college?
    City center?

I know there's football pitches out at westside.
Is there anything up around there?

you don't state which college you are talking about but as you mention Westside I'm unaware of anyplace in that area. They have recently added a running track to the Westside pitches so maybe they added some of the equipment you are looking for.

I've been told there's a childrens playground in salthill that may be decent for workouts. Anyone know anything about that?

Westside pitch has a great new running track. Also has some new 'workout' machines (like crosstrainer, shoulder press etc)

It's a bit further out from GMIT Dublin Rd, if that's the college you mean.

You might find that this map of neighbourhoods in Galway helps to get a grip on places: http://www.galwaytransport.info/2012/06/galway-city-suburbs-summary-map.html

Interesting if Westside has one now too.

I didn't go myself but my wife went and mentioned there were several workout "stations" around the track. She was raving it's a great facility (the whole place including playground). Hope it stays that way.

Well if there's a playground, there must be some bars to do chin ups and stuff on!!

    Yes, there are chin-up bars.

All the equipment seems to be set up for people taller and wider shouldered than I am though. :)

    It's a great facility.

Rinville is very far out from the city centre

I haven't seen rings in any of the parks mentioned. Renmore gymnastics do an open gym for adults on Monday nights- pay as you go and they have very good facilities. Might suit you? They have a good website with more info.
