    Hi All,

I've recently moved to Tesco mobile who piggyback on the O2 network which is counted a roaming network. Apparently Apple have disabled personal hotspots on roaming networks. I need to contact them to enable it but I have no AppleCare support. I tried to logon to the community forums but I kept getting an error. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Kaz

You should be able to do it yourself

    Settings
    Cellular
    Cellular Data Network
Scroll down to personal hotspot and enter

    tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com

In the APN for it and that should then enable your personal hotspot.

Apple haven't disabled anything. If Tesco have a carrier file now then they have disabled it.

If I click setup hotspot it says please contact your carrier.
Tesco say it's Apple who disabled hotspot on roaming networks

I had no problem on eMobile - Tesco said contact Apple. I think I may be using my 14 day cooling off period to go back to eMobile even though the same plan is more expensive every month.

Apple don't disable this, they do however give carriers the ability to send what is called a carrier profile to the device. the carrier can disable or hide certain settings (most notably mobile hotspot).

Mine didn't work - I've cancelled my Tesco account because I was within 14 days. I still have to pay for the 9 days I used. pretty disappointing :(

Maybe best go the jailbreak route and purchase MiWi?
