Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This isn't the usual whos the best player from a weaker county etc

What im actually looking to find out is about the Railway Cup in hurling.

I know a few from Kerry have played and won with Munster. What about players from Leitrim with Connacht? Im pretty much there have been players from the others

In Leinster players from Louth, Longford etc Wicklow, Westmeah, Kildare etc all have im pretty much.

In Ulster they would have only played as they have yet to win it. Donegal, Cavan etc

Keith Higgins won it with Connacht, I think he's the only active player to have won it in both codes?

Ben Tansey (Roscommon) played for Connacht but I don't think he won a Railway Cup. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Tansey

He also played with Meath iirc and won a football medal with them also?

I would think around the same era as Ben Tansey one of the O'Neills from Wicklow might have won one. He also played for Dublin late 80s. Don Hyland Wicklow also and possibly Leighton Glynn.

There was a frank Whyte played for inter provincial for Leinster while playing for Westmeath in early 40s and later played for Dublin

Tom Carew Kildare? Just a guess but in latter years more players from these counties are being recognised.

Pat Dunney of Kildare won five Railway Cup medals. Four in hurling and one in football. He won medals in both codes with Leinster in 1974.
