Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The game was always down as a Saturday night game so it was always as likely to stay in Tralee as it was to move to Killarney.

Anyway they are about 30mins apart and Killarney would be better fun of a Saturday night than Tralee.

The journey is long enough without adding to it though!! Half the fun of staying is a drink or 2 before the game knowing you don't have to drive.

And how do you get home then if you're drinking before the game ;)

Looks like we are getting a new Home jersey lads. Mayo Twitter just put up a teaser. Only 2 years since the last one if I'm not mistaken?

    New jersey on the way.

Get the feeling it'll be a bit of a throwback design, the shade of red looks just a tiny bit brighter on this one.

Might be tempted from the early pic. Wasn't much of a fan of our last shirt. Looking forward to the reveal

Looks like it will be similar to the Antrim kit with the stripe across the chest.

I`m not a fan on this whole jersey commercialism where we in the GAA seem to be going down the same rip off road as soccer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

TBH I'm not too sure if I'm liking the look of it.But it is only a sneak peek.

Soccer is a different level altogether but kit releases will become more frequent in the GAA as the commercial side gets stronger. Elverys have a big say in design and the frequency of design changes. Their pockets are boosted by more frequent changes so it will probably be the way forward. The other side of it is they look after the team very very well and anything they ask for is accommodated.

I must don`t like this thin end of the wedge commercialism when I have seen the extent it has developed too in soccer and the pressure it puts on parents to buy the latest kit because young Johnie down the road has it.
The whole train looks to be thundering down the professional track where county teams are concerned which will only read to the further detriment of the clubs football and voluntary input to the clubs imo.

One thing about GAA fans of all counties is that you will see all styles going back over the years being worn with the same pride as the latest one.

    Long may this continue.

Don't think there's anything, not since Croke PArk took it over last year.

No, there was 'free' stuff as part of it in 2016 and it was part of the CP scheme this year.

I quite like it but bloody double sponsor ruins it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Not a fan. I'll still buy it though.

Dunno what to think of it.... Need to see it in action. We will probably see a new away jersey too seeing with the change of sponsor (well not a change, a branding change)

I reckon that will come out next year. Pretty sure the current away jersey came out a year after the last home jersey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,862 ✭✭✭statto25

The last release was December 2014 Home and Away was Feb 2015. I'd expect something similar this time around unless they just change the sponsorship on the black jersey until 2018.
Just checked the O'neills website and there are no Mayo jerseys listed so that could mean two new kits.

That design is kinda growing on me the more I look at it.

It's definitely one of the more interesting shirts available.

The back of the shirt is awful.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭blinding

The back should be entertaining alright . Just to give Mayo's opposition players something to admire as the Mayo players go flying past .

It's not too bad from the front alright but it really looks like the back was designed in isolation and is horrible.

A return to the predominantly white away shirt with that red stripe and some green trim really would be the business.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,196 ✭✭✭PressRun

I saw the new jersey in the shop today and it didn't look as bad in real life as it did online, but I still don't love it. Back to the white of 1951, I say!

Wasn't the white in 1951 a Connacht jersey?

As both Mayo and Meath played in predominantly green they switched to provincial colours to avoid a clash.

Well done to the masters, won the All Ireland yesterday v Cavan.

So in seven finals this year Mayo won two.
Next year they might win more.

Seven finals is a lot to get to all the same.

    Edit - Silly me I forgot the u 21 footballers !

    Eight finals and three wins.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

Bought the new jersey as a Christmas gift for my nephew and niece. It has definitely grown on me.

RIP Willie Casey one of the greatest to have ever worn the green and red.

I saw in the paper that Diarmuid O'Connor tore his hamstring playing for DCU. I would have thought he'd have been better taking some time away from football for a couple of months. It's been a problematic year for him injury-wise and he's only 21. He needs to be given proper time to rest and recover. His year has been non-stop.

Wasnt he awarded a scholarship a year or two ago so i doubt if he could have taken a rest from college football.

Whatever about college, I certainly want to see him and other starters from 2016 rested for the league, regardless of the consequences for Div 1 status.

Yeah - they went on sale at 11,00am. Got a cairde maigheo season ticket for 200. They were all gone in minutes; not sure how many were available in total.
