Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's amazing how great rte where with latching on to the penalty incident. Will the analyse the refs decisions yesterday in Castlebar ? Nah they won't. AOS went down soft, big deal

Aidan O Shea lacks the mobility to make a top class full back, the Bernard Brogans of this world would run him ragged.

Tbh I think it's a bad move having him there. He's more mobile or as mobile as Rory O'Carroll or N McGee IMO. It's just that I think his best qualities suit midfield/ half-forward.
We spoke about him being handy at 14, that was when B Moran, Parson's, SOS and Gibbons were options at 8 and 9.
So apart from SOS who can play a full game from that list. So you can only play who's available. AOS at full forward is not a luxury you have this year.
AOS to number 3 when you also have and continued to have issues at 8 & 9 is not a luxury you'd have either IMO.
He stated well leave him there. At midfield he'd win ball and cut out some if the supply into the square.
It was good that Mayo won so well yesterday.
My old mind was brought back to a Dublin Down game years ago when or best corner back Walsh went off injured while playing well against Mickey linden, so management took Paul Curren who was doing well in the halfback line and put him in the corner, creating two problems where we had one.

A draw in the ulster final would do nicely

Anyone with a link to the full game would be much appreciated or does anyone know when Sky will show a full re-run? Cheers

The words physicality and intensity are destroying sport. Andy moran has been forced into semi retirement for the last 3 years because he hit a landmark birthday. Physicality is very important if your Donald Vaughan or AOS and you put the ball under your arm forget it's there and look for crowds of men to crash into. If you have Andy Moran footballing brain and you can pull strings and you can create space for yourself you don't need to be able to knock down walls. Mayo need to concentrate on what they are traditionally good at, playing football. Moran might only last an hour but he sets the tone and make better players out of his teammates. The argument will go "but he won't be able to produce it against the top teams" but there is no evidence to support it. Mayo in particular but Gaa in general need to return to basic sporting values and put less store in the questionable science of recent UL graduates.

Some goal but cowardly stuff from Bolton, so much for the Mayo blood!

Parsons is a massive loss no doubt
Touch and go for next game

It's too early to say Loftus is a big loss.u21 football is a lot different than the big boys !

Yeah but he is undoubtably a very talented young fottballer. Our subs bench at the minute is sparse and filled with very experienced players no doubt but that injection of youth is crucial for the team to develop and stay close to the top

    Confident we would beat donegal

So it's likely to be Donegal or Westmeath.Father Tod will it definitely be fixed for Croker?

Not guaranteed to be Croke Park but for the last few years the second set of 4th round games, the B side, have been on in CP on the bank holiday Saturday.

Would anyone prefer to meet Dublin in a QF possibly when they are undercooked as they say and possibly catch them on the hop ?

The avoiding Dublin route looks much easier obviously.
Westmeath in the 4th then Tyrone in the QF, very winnable for Mayo, then a SF v Galway, Roscommon, Clare, Tipp or Derry.

Hahaha... Good man. The arrogance is back in the camp again after a Kildare at home victory. Getting a bit too far ahead of yourself

Mayo should not fear any of

    Donegal
    Tyrone
    Westmeath
    Roscommon
    Galway
    Clare
    Tipp
    Derry

According the Mayo News podcast a few weeks ago they'd mentioned a hamstring injury sustained in training the Friday pre the Galway game and that he'd be back in contention for our next qualifier match v Donegal/losers of the Leinster final. Not a murmur out of the camp since,no idea what's the story with Conor Loftus?

Have no idea what's happening with Conor Loftus. Haven't heard anything at all about him since the London match. Have also heard conflicting reports about the seriousness of Tom Parsons' injury, but I read something that Rochford expects to have a full squad to choose from for the next match? Not sure if that's true though.

20 posts in the GAA forum, everyone of them in the Mayo thread and everyone of them disparaging or slagging. You wouldn't be a troll by any chance???

No harm, for too long everything that went on in the camp was well known in the run up to games. Good to see less of that this year so far, loose lips sink ships etc

In what way does speculating on the possible route of your own team through the competition constitute arrogance ?

Galways performance today again puts a slightly different perspective on our loss to them.
It's seems it's not only mayo people who have underestimated them

They've done well alright...Roscommon though...that's the problem with being in training for the new season early....the fatigue set in a couple of months back

You're in cloud cuckoo land. Galway comprehensively beat us a few weeks ago, And they're annihilating Roscommon at the moment. They'd destroy us if we meet again..As would half the teams on that list.

Dublin in a QF may not be the foregone conclusion that people think.
I think there's a real whiff of 2012 off their on-field attitude so far this year, especially today.

Well if the lads go out on the pitch with the mentality you are expressing they are going to beaten before the ball is thrown in.Thankfully there is no danger of that.

    Soooooooo which do we want
    A
Westmeath (who we will beat don't care what anyone says about complacency etc )
And then Tyrone in quarters . With galway playing in the other quarter final on that side of draw

    Or
    B
A real tough test against donegal with dublin and then Kerry lying in wait for the winners on that side

    I'll take A thanks

    A please.

I take it that for the QF a provincial winner can't play against the team they beat in the provincial final?
If we are picked against Westmeath and win and in the unlikely event Cork beat Donegal then if would be a draw for the QF pairings. Is that correct?

I believe that once the draw is made the pair g is made for quarter finals too
So whoever gets Westmeath avoids dublin and plays Tyrone
    Whoever gets donegal plays dublin

Only if the Ulster loser is drawn against and beats Cork

Mayo avoid Dublin if they draw and beat Westmeath and Donegal beat Cork.

If we draw Donegal then we play Dublin if Westmeath beat Cork.

If we beat Donegal and Cork beat Westmeath its open draw to see who plays Dublin.

The reason, provincial champs cannot meet the team they beat in the final.

No all quarter finals are in CP.

4th round qualifiers are neutral, maybe CP

Galway are the new team in Connaught now. The crown has been passed over. Lets hope we slip out by a few points in the next round, and not make a holy show of ourselves in the quarter final a la Mayo.
