Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tonight some big games some small games but mainly its about the first of two games that can secure Wales (ninth best best in the FIFA rankings) its first place in a major finals since 1958 and as that World Cup qualification was luck as much as football its really the first at all. Group favourites Belgium still have it all to do.

The Dutch will be looking to avoid an expensive embarrassment against table topping plucky Iceland, Italy likewise v Malta esp with their head to head v Bulgaria the next game.

That is because Sky have them all apart from England games and 1 other game per round all to do with UEFA new central contract, will be the same for World Cup Qualification

Northern Ireland need to beat the Faroes and get something from Hungary. Also if Romania beat Hungary they are looking good to qualify.

Wales have a goal ruled out, seemingly for a push.

    Looked very harsh to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Netherlands down to 10. Martins Indi sent off. Very very harsh.

Such an embarrassment that it was a red card.

    Iceland just awarded a peno...

    And it's in, just about.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Holland loosing to Iceland
    Turkey drawing with Latvia

    Czech Republic equalised.

Been really impressed with Iceland in the whole campaign, it's no fluke, they've been playing well in every game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭Luckycharms_74

    Turkey winning as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

Bale for Wales 1-0 with about 10 minutes to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,850 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Had to be Bale that scored.

    Well done Wales.

As far as I can see, if things stay as they are Iceland will qualify with two games to spare if they beat Kazakhstan at home on Sunday.
Netherlands are in deep trouble. If they lose away to Turkey on Sunday they'll be four points off a playoff with 2 games remaining.

That looks to me like the dutch played 5 attackers and 1 midfielder which is pretty nuts, robben went off injured after a half hour.

Netherlands 1st home defeat in qualifying since 2000 (Portugal) and 37 games played winning 33

With Iceland on 18 pts and Czech late winner putting them on 16 pts the Dutch are in big trouble on 10 pts

Brilliant stuff from Iceland. 15 goals scored and only 3 conceded, fair play to them they are almost there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭Bret Hart

Finishes 1-0 to the Welsh, there almost there. Win on Sunday and that's it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,713 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Italy scrapping past Malta in Group H. Bad draw for Croatia as well but both should finish in the top 2 anyway

    Home to Israel,

    win and they qualify.

They should. Even a draw for them is an ok result. Their last game is at home to Andorra

Loving the Wales Hype TBH, think it's brilliant. Hope they do well in Euros, assuming they qualify.

Iceland and Wales show that with a bit of organisation and spirit you can go places. you do not need to be paying managers millions either.

Georgia look pretty dodgy at the back. I can't see them holding out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,243 ✭✭✭✭briany

Georgia look like a deer in headlights when it comes to finding themselves in an attacking position. Scotland don't look amazing going, so far, either but it's hard not to see them nicking a goal somehow.

The second I got the match working Georgia scored,!

Scotland actually leaving gaps at the back now, hope that continues as they chase the game

You living under a rock? If the Scots lose we stand a good chance of getting 3rd in the group.
