Questions about modules and credits...

I'm deciding on which modules I'm going to choose for this year of my course and the ones I want to do add up to 65 credits, but I only need 60 to get the full amount of credits needed to pass my course.

Am I allowed to take an extra module even though it's above the amount I need?
If I pick the extra 5 credit module, does it mean if I fail this/another 5 credit module I will still get the 60 credits needed and pass the course anyway?

I know it's kind of vague but I'm kind of confused, and I know it could be a bit odd that I want to do EXTRA work but still. Thanks in advance for any help.

That's something that you'd need to check with the head of your year. It can differ in each school within DIT.
