I think I asked this on here before but the in-laws are looking to replace their old (xp) pc. It's agonisingly slow now.

I said I'd have a look at building one for them. Budget of €300. I used an i3 in my own and I'm happy with it. Could I build a decent pc for €300 or do they really need to up their budget a bit?

    1. What is your budget?
    €300

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Family pc, so general use and some games. I don't think these will be high end games. The i3 has inbuilt graphics so I reckon this will do for now. If they want a gpu, they can add one at a later date.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No. Will need all new parts.

    5. Do you need a monitor? Not at the moment.

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
It's an old CRT monitor but they don't want to change this yet. Will be using VGA connector for now but I will encourage them to get a HD monitor in time. Again, an i3 integrated graphics should be enough.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? Any method

    9. When are you purchasing? As soon as a build is put together for budget.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? West Dublin

    Pentium G3220 €60
    120gb SSD €60
    H81M board €50
    1hb HDD €50
    4gb RAM €30
    250w PSU €30
    €30 for a case
    €20 for windows
    Total €350 or so

SSD will bring it under budget but will make a huge change here
