Best resource for learning java ?

i have been learning java for just under a year now in college, and I'm ok at it. Not bad, not great, but ok. What book/tutorial is the best for revising stuff like file i/o, inheritance etc and improving even further. I'd prefer a book if possible. I'd like something that that would put me on an intermediate level. Thanks

Johsua Blochs Effective Java, it's the java equivalent of the bible.

You should take a look at all the various online tutorials. There are so many like w3schools and tutorialspoint etc

Personally, I found I learned the most when just trying to build a project in java rather than sitting down reading notes.
