Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone fancy joining a league? Just for a bit of fun, no prizes, other than bragging rights.

In case you don't know http://fantasyrugger.co/ is run by Ian Madigan (and presumably others). They claim to have the best scoring system awarding points for lots of different aspects of play in the various positions. There's a couple of players and websites have their own leagues and are giving away decent prizes to the winners. Madigan is giving away 6N tickets for Ireland vs Wales. Dan Biggar is giving away Wales v Scotland ones.

Anyway... I'll create a league for Boards and if anyone wants to join feel free.

Now to think of a name....

"Bring Back Andrew Trimble" or maybe "The Kieran Marmion Appreciation Society"?

EDIT: League is called "Down To Ruck" and I regret it already. The code is weZuOKjit4tgdHQY

LINK TO LEAGUE IS IN POST #8

Was chatting to some of the lads in work about fantasy team websites for the RWC and this looks as good as any I guess. Only issue is I'm not sure my hair is random yet shapely enough to join.

Could some boards experts maybe weigh in on this... molloy? .... ak?

I just set it up, about 10 minutes ago. Maybe it takes a while to appear?

This is the link it's giving me... http://fantasyrugger.co/league/index?LeagueSearch%5Bprivacy_code%5D=weZuOKjit4tgdHQY

Here's my team. I'm hoping to never have to make any substitutions. Although I've just realised Australia (and 3 other teams I can't figure out) aren't playing in the first game week so I have to make one already .... S**t, Scotland aren't playing either.

I'm in with my hastily assembled team. It's awkward enough to put together without having to worry about who is playing when so I just selected one for the whole tournament and hoped for the best.

So am I right in thinking the idea here is that we see how our individual teams do against each other?

    Totally new to this :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,169 ✭✭✭Wang King

I've managed to join, but I can't get back in thru the link, can't see any other teams or anything, is that normal? Will it take a few hours to show up, or are we a ghost league.

    Yeah, pretty much.

You can join other leagues that are giving away prizes too. There's a few on the "Featured Leagues" page.

I made it a private league so only people on here could join. You should be able to see who else is in the league but you can't see who is in their team. I assume this will change when the tournament starts.

    Wait, what is a gameweek?

It'd be weird if a gameweek wasn't considered the first round of fixtures. Otherwise there'll have to be a lot of subbing for teams not playing?

I asked them on twitter but they never got back to me. I had previously assumed that some teams would have two fixtures in the one week at times but it seems that some teams are missing from the first game week. I'm working off the list they give as game week one meaning no Australia or Scotland and two other teams are missing too.

You can make 2 free transfers after each game week.

Here's my team, probably not finalised yet - I'll have to see the starting XV's before I make my final selection

I went to make a change to my team this morning and I'm pretty sure I had an extra 50k in my salary bank. I managed to get Murray in as substitute SH. When I initially picked my team I was struggling to fill the bench because I kept running out of money. Not sure what happened there but I'll take it :)

Australia going with the two teams approach is pretty annoying. They're not playing in the first game week and then it's entirely possible any players you picked will end up not playing their first match either. Is it worth having any of them in the team?

    This is hard to pick.

Anyone know the rule for multi-positional players? Henderson is down as flanker but what if he plays lock?

I don't know. I assume as long as they're on the pitch you get the points.

EDIT: I asked them and they confirmed this.

What's the story with this once you've made your team of 25, can you make as many changes as you want before the first game?
I have a team that I'm somewhat happy with but might want to make a few changes between here and the 1st game

Wonder how it works post group stages when certain teams disappear. Will we be given free subs to get rid of players likely to be gone and a bigger budget?

You can pick an entirely new team each round once the knock outs start. I assume there'll be a budget still and a higher restriction as to how many players per team you can pick

Why wouldn't you just join all the featured leagues? If you win one, you'll probably win them all and get a serious amount of free stuff?

Right some from what I can gather there are four game weeks, but obviously by necessity some teams play twice in some, and some teams don't play in others. So for example Scotland miss week one, but play twice in week 2.

You pick your squad of 25, and that is your extended squad for the whole tournament, but you only actually play 15 of those each week. So for example, I picked both Irish scrum halves in my squad of 9, that way if Murray doesn't start, I can just pick Reddan. I don't think you can pick say both Murray and Kockott, and get double points when Ireland play France.

Then you can make some changes to your squad of 25 between rounds.

I can't wait for the deadline, I keep tinkering and I'm going to end up with an entirely different squad by the time it starts.
