Hi all.. I'm currently on Kildare county council housing list. Finding it impossible to find suitable accommodation. I've two youg children. There may be a house available soon which I could rent through family but its in Dublin. I'm getting rent supplement at the moment. What can I do if I find a place in Dublin while I'm on list in Kildare and currently living in Kildare.

    Thanks

Firstly, ask your CWO if you can get rent allowance for the place in Dublin. The rent will need to be below the cap for the area (and there may be tax implications for the owner if they're renting at less than market value).

If you can, then you will likely have to come off the Kildare council list and go on the Dublin - you will start at the bottom of the list again, or maybe they've now implemented the idea that if you're in private sector rental with rent supplement you are house so don't need to be one the list any longer.
