I just received a letter from Bank of Ireland saying they are replacing my visa card with a master card!!

    Why are they doing this?

I'll have to memorise a new number, and change all my various online accounts payment methods!!

    not happy.

Is that a regular credit card or a Visa Debit card?

BOI has made a corporate commercial decision to switch from Visa Credit Cards to Mastercard - every customer will get a new credit card
Visa Debit Cards are not affected

That's a pain, you'll have to update all your online payments with new card details...
And it's non-negotiable! No discussion, nice customer service...

Visa don't have a right to dominate Irish card payments.

Bank of Ireland have a right to choose a different card payment provider. If it makes more commercial sense for BoI to use MasterCard, then BoI are right to make the switch.

    ..

You have to do that every time your card expires anyway.

Only the expiry date as the long number stays the same.

You only need to update the expiry date.
