I was in Dingle Oceanworld aquarium in kerry with my TY class and I saw huge char, brown and rainbow trout in a huge tank. Some where more than a foot in length. Luckily I am doing work experience here so I may get to feed them etc :) by the way I doing work experience as I want to not just to see the trout. Here's a pic of a brownie

    A foot is only 12 inches that's only a 1 1/2 pound trout.

You're being generous Dodder. A 12 inch Brownie ranges from 9 to 11ozs depending on conditon.

Give or take 5lbs or 12 inches? ;)

A 6lb Brown Trout is at least 24 inches long.

The trout in the picture is definitely not 6lb.

Hard to tell with nothing in it for scale, but looks about 1lb.

Cracking trout for most anglers though.

The rainbow trout were 6lb+ not the brownies although there was some bigger brown trout

A Rainbow of 6lb would still need to be over 2ft long. Those fish in the picture were not anywhere near 6lb.

Who said the brownie in the picture is 6lbs he is just one of the smaller ones. There was rainbows 2ft

I was in the zoo a few weeks ago. There's a hippo there that's exactly the same size as a hippo.

Not being un-nice. Just saying it's not worth getting bothered about. They were just captive trout and will seem huge to the average angler in Ireland.

Hope you enjoy your placement in the aquarium Olwas, it's a great oppportunity. If Kevin Flannery is around take the opportunity to talk to him and learn from him, he's a wealth of information.

Yeah 8 years ago in clondalkin.
Tbh I'd have gotten a much better fight off a 3 lb wild browny.

Eat a stocked rainbow years and years ago and I'd ever eat one again.
Tasted like mud. Very soft meat and not enough salt and vinegar in the world to make it taste better

Agreed. I don't see the attraction of going after farmed Rainbows. They'll more or less take anything and give a very poor fight.
Give me a wild brownie any day. Indeed, any wild fish.

Ya I know wild brownies do fight better but I'd never eat a wild on except if they didn't go back for some reason all catch and release for me even with sea trout
