I see we have a couple of medal winners at the Europeans. Taking silver and bronze at 1,000 yards and with one of our lads in first after day one (on agg) and another at fifth, just missing out on 3rd overall because of 2 v-bulls.

That is some shooting from what is classed as the highest turn out for the comp and some of the highest standard of shooting seen in years.

Full results can be found here with live scoring (live enough).

Ah. I was actually wondering if the Irish shooters were shooting Irish-built rifles.

Ah, yes they are. All Irish built ones.

Excellent. That should, in theory at least, open the way for an enterprising writer to produce an article for the usual gun magazines on that very subject, seeing as how a varminter from Mr Walsh figures in one of this month's shooting mags here in yUK.

Yep the lads are doing great! Proud to call them my friends and shoot alongside them weekly, disappointed I couldn't get the time off work to be over there too but that's life. Keep it up lads and you'll need to pay for an extra bag for all those medals ;)

Individuals are all over and we have three Irish FTR shooters taking 3rd, 5th and 6th overall (on agg). SO a Bronze in the overall scoring, not to mention some more medals in individual distances including a Gold at 900 yds.

The conditions yesterday were very tricky with strong let ups and light rain to contend with but the lads have done themselves proud and in a very strong field of shooters have finished about the best i've seen in years.

    Well done to them all.

Just read this from Simon Barr as well from the champs.
He was shooting a Savage FTR rifle.

"Just shot 75.6 out of 75 (.6 means 6 V-Bulls) and completed a clean score at the F-Class European Championships with .308 Hornady Superformance A-Max Ammo. That's a 5 inch group at 900 yards. Very happy indeed!"

    Using 178gr AMax ammo

    No custom built rifle there

Thank you for that, and well done to all concerned. Yet again Ireland pulls well above its weight in international sporting events.

Nor handloads, either. Both Savage and Hornady must be VERY pleased with results like that.

Not in the least bit surprised with that.

If you ask some of the lads on the range they'll tell you that at times i questioned why i changed my one from it's original format to the customised version i had. It was able to keep up with custom rifles and handloads in it's original state and using factory ammo (i was a bit behind the curve when it came to customising rifles).

A true out of the box 1,000 yard gun.

However, and i'm sure you'll appreciate this, one the tinkering bug sets in it's hard to stop.
