I am so delighted that they're doing this. I felt like the games were becoming stale. They really needed a shake up and so far they're getting it

Just be awkward and make an Alolan Eevee which can evolve into every type the regular one can't. :P

I'm a bit iffy on the "Alola Forms", to me it just seems like a way to bump up the amount of Pokemon without having to come up with new ones. :pac:

That was my initial reaction until I saw that Nintales <3 I wonder how the Vulpix will be evolving, hardly a fire stone.

Thankfully no new Megas announced. We don't need another Mega Kang, Mawile, Blaziken or Mence fascio again.

Would be nice if the Pokémon reclassed as Fairy types were retconned as region variants. Like a Kalosian Clefairy.

Dunno, I really like the Alolan forms. Makes sense that Pokemon in different regions would evolve and develop differently. I'd rather that over another 100 or so new pokemon. Like, with over 700 as it is, do we really need new ones every game? :pac:

Just started Pokemon Yellow again the remastered version just so I can catch some of the Pokemon and bring them to Gen 7 with me, looking forward to it :-)

Anyone else gonna do the same? I'll complete the game first of course.

I bought Yellow in that sale the other week. Attempting a Nuzlocke with the idea of sending stuff over to Moon eventually.

If possible, I might get Sun as well so I can play through that with Mimikyu as a 'starter'.

+1 I wished they did that sooner, I was just talking about it at the weekend

Are the proper Pokemon going to be in this? The likes of Charmander and Geodude and the likes? Those new ones look daft.

Last Pokemon game I played of the main ones was Pokemon blue so maybe time hasn't been kind to the game?

I was a bit like that when I started watching the xyz series.
"wtf is that yoke. Look at the state of it. what happened to the originals"
I'm afraid to pick up the latest pokemon games now :pac:

I started with gen 1 played until gen 3 and skipped until gen 6. In my own experience all of that feeling is just nostalgia. Pokemon main games are actually playable now. With physical/special split, simplified breeding and training and the overall flow of the game is so much smoother than the original clunky games.

    Also some original pokes have rubbish designs too;

    Duck with leek
    Haunted pokeball
    Upside down haunted pokeball
    Some eggs

    :pac:

Omg farfetch'd was just the cutest little thing
Ah yeah it's pure nostalgia, they're not objectively better or worse than the originals from what I've seen sure

Just as a follow on; I actually hate every single new Pokemon shown so far bar Mimiku and the Alolan Ninetales :pac: :pac:

Farfetch'd was and still is awesome. Such a fun character in the anime too smacking trainers in the face with his leek.

Half tempted to go out and grab a DS for this, what are you guys expectations

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,563 ✭✭✭Wing126

The 2DS will run it and that's cheap enough now.

I'm expecting it'll be a really fresh and enjoyable entry to the series. I really like the Alola Forms and the changes to the gym/e4 system.

Apparently the korean ratings board has rated a Pokemon Sun & Moon Demo. So hopefully that'll be announced on the 6th!

The ORAS demo didnt come out until a week before release and was by codes that were quite limited so I wouldn't get my hopes up about that!

Really looking forward to the game - except I just know they're gonna make it too easy and kill the fun!

Ok what the F*** is going on in this game.

A pokemon called Type:Null? Ultra Beast? Parallel universes?

This really is an odd pokemon game.

Ive decided I'm not watching any more videos. I want to be completely confused when playing for the first time :D

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Music Moderators, Regional Midlands Moderators Posts: 24,126 Mod ✭✭✭✭Angron

I've read that Ultra Beast won't actually count as pokémon, and will just be a plot thing. They aren't showing up on the list of pokémon on the official site anyway, while all the other ones in the latest video have been added to it.

Professor Oak gets an Alolan form too!

    It's his cousin!

Ultrabeasts are so weird. Roidy Red Bug

    Rockruffs daytime evolution is cool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭beaner09

From the small amount of info we have on Ultra Beasts so far - they are my one negative feeling towards the game...

.... well that and the stupid explanation they gave for Raichu Alola Forme!

    Where are people pre ordering?
Amazon cheapest but who can wait extra days for delivery?

Amazon + Parcel Motel = day of/day after shipping and still works out cheaper than gamestop!

I'm gonna order off Amazon and get the Sun steelbook edition.

Demo on the e-shop on Tuesday as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

    The demo is up now.

    Early thoughts on the demo:

Looks super good, the pokemon models are great.
I like the music for Team Skull.
Nice that move selection now tells you when a move will be not very, regular, or super effective, it'll be helpful in the early days when you're not sure of the types yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

You need to have already beaten a pokemon for that to show, which is nice.

You can move your DS to change the camera aim, which is also cool. I think it's great so far

Riding on a Tauros is brilliant, and I am in love with the idea.

How long does the demo go on for lads? Is there much to do in it?

It's about an hour and not much to do.

I could be wrong but it looked like the Super/Not Very effective notes on the moves only showed AFTER you had used the move once against that pokemon.

Team Skull's arm jiggling 90's gangsta moves were hilarious.

Once you have battled the pokemon at least once, they will show up for every move.

There's a bunch of timed events in the game. One was on the day after the demo was out, and gave 10 pretty wings so I'm guessing they'll all be giving items to send to the main game when it's out.
