Thousands spent and in the end, your enjoyment level is same as it ever was.

Big shop windows where you are?

Never realised there were so many luddites around.

Not a luddite, just like to get bang for my buck. I'm not getting 700-1300 euro worth of extra value if I upgrade to a high end TV,my experience improves marginally extremely marginally.
Don't mind spending money when it's worth it,dropped a fair bit of coin on a decent suit recently 1k+, because you can see and feel the difference versus a 300 euro one.
That's not the case with HD v SD but sure enjoy counting the blades of grass on the pitch in Cardiff on Sunday. I'll be watching the match

This is what happens when there's 2 days with no TV3 coverage to moan about.

HD TV's aren't expensive nowadays. In fact, I got mine (Samsung, 37") from Argos about 4 years ago for £299 and its still going strong. Had the full HD package along with sports with sky for a while but far too expensive to justify it, so downgraded to normal package but still get BBC and ITV HD channels.

Theres not a big pile of difference but you do notice it best for nature documentaries, some movies etc.

That's my point about the big shop windows, you can spend half of what you're quoting as the lower limit as an entry level to get a reasonably good TV these days.

Went to watch the France match on 3 player. 2 and a half minutes of ads to get through first and terrible quality despite a good connection. Anyone know where else I could catch a replay?

dead right - I have been supportive of the TV3 , but the over-saturation of Add's , particularly at half time, and in particular on Sunday with all that was happening at half time, very poor media management from TV3 - Would have expected more '
LESS is MORE - sell the segments at top prices , rather than bucket price rubbish that just annoys the consumer

And a great anchor in Tommy Martin (seems much more comfortable with the rugby rather than the soccer)

It's way off topic but you're as well to hold off now until 4koled tv's come down in price.

They're very good - glad I've turned it on to get a reasonably neutral discussion....but I'll watch the match on ITV or S4C.

He really is dire and in the middle of a Springbok attack he is talking about Champions league football

dreadful coverage. No excitement generated. Toland and Barnes highlight issues and explain them. Shockingly bad and inept. The panel is dull and flat and lacks character. Too many breaks. You can almost smell tv 3 wanting money from adds.

That's a bit embarrassing from Shane Byrne.

That wasn't the bad part. Shane Byrne asked if the martian was good looking. Then Martin said something about the point of it and Byrne said the point is I want a pint. He didn't think he was on air.

I did and she thinks she hosts the great Irish bake off or some fashion show but I think she is an Irish woman rugby player.

I don't know who she is but if us viewers are finding it difficult ti identify her it underlines how poor TV3s judgement is. I am assuming she is some kind of journalist.

MacNeill. How much training has he got as a co-commentator? How many games has he co-commented on prior to this? Anyone know? I got expert analysis from Liam Toland but jsu a few broad comments from MacNeill eg great game, fantastic effort etc.

Would there have been 10 minutes of adds on after the game before the ehh ... analysis?

Correct me if I m wrong but didn't Hook and McGurk etc play back lots of the game in their analysis after the game? but do TV3 do the same or is it all chat?

FFS, she's Fiona Steed and if you don't recognise her it only underlines your own ignorance.

This drove me mad as well, talking about champions league as a decision was being made in the middle of play.....the commentary today has not done anything for the excitement of the match, tv3 should never be allowed get the rwc again..

ive started recording the matches and watching 15 mins in, that way i can go straight into the second half without suffering through all the ads....

This is painful stuff on TV3. Surely with the way Woody is going on about O'Connell, this should be on after the watershed...

Now they are saying O'Connell will not be there tomorrow.

Did I not read yesterday that he was returning to the camp yesterday?

He was having his surgery yesterday. Small possibility he might be out by tomorrow but I doubt it.

In fairness she plays women's rugby not what you'd call a mainstream sport. Could you name the Irish table tennis team?
