PC or console? I've found that putting my sensitivity up higher for console hasn't really worked for my aim. Normally play huge sensitivty on most games but this one is different.

console, but I'm only spoofing. ;)

I put my dead zones at 6 and it improved my aim shedloads

Took the jump and bought it on sales for PS4. Any recomendations characterwise for a pure beginner? Taking into account I gravitate usually to support classes namely tanks and medics

That would be Rook or Doc so.........both not the best ops.

Bandit would be a good option

Another question, will be playing quick play to get versed with it at the start, will it pair me against and with people of a similar level/skill?

I'd do a few of the situations first to get used to it - it's unlike any CoD or Battlefield game and if you play like you do in those games, you'll keep dying fast. Watch the tutorial videos as well as they give you 200 renown each as well.

Everyone will like you if you pick Rook - you give armour to everyone. He's kinda the tank.

Just had a quick go there before work, yeh, some learning curve alright. Maps are tough to learn as well, everyone just seems to know what they are doing. Liking Rook so far. Ash seems decent too

Jager is my go-to defender lately. His anti-ballistics gadget is proving very useful when I'm hiding in the objective and sneak peaking doors.

Rook is always a good start, I agree. And you’ll find that the ever elusive acog attachment (it has been taken from a lot of defensive operators) will become more and more important to you as you gain experience.

I’m a big fan of Smoke also, shotgun and SMG combo means you are strong both long and short range.

I cant rememeber the exact order I picked them, but I think my first unlocks were, sledge, thermite, rook and pulse. The're probably not a bad shout while you're learning, as they're all useful, without being critical (apart from thermite if no one else has a hard breacher) - by that I mean that you messing up with their gadgets or getting killed early likely wont put your teammates at too much of a disadvantage.

Fuze is a brilliant choice for the hostage maps! ;)

You would have to be careful picking Thermite as a rookie, if you die at the very start of the round the team could be fooked to break re-enforced walls etc. (just saying)

I think that Mute, Bandit, Rook, Castle would be the best Def operators. Attacking Operators does not matter as much as Def but go into custom game and get a feel for the recoil etc. Generally the faster the RoF the more recoil, Thatcher is so under used its mental so try to get used to him.....

If smoke was buff'd that the gas actually did some damage I would use him alot more.....its far too weak.

Not that you asked for it but some beginner advice?

    - Try to stick near your team mates, not ON TOP of them but in their general area. You'll learn sight lines as you get attacked on defense plus you'll score assists or full on kills which aside from helping the team you'll up your confidence.

    - I notice a lot of newer players tend to "fidget" a lot when anchoring in an objective, tiny but constant adjustments to your aim even when ADS actually make noise. I've 7.1 headphones and the amount of times that's given players positions away isn't funny.

    - When attacking just support your team, again, stay near them but not on top of them. You'll learn routes and sight lines as well as picking up assists and kills.

    - When attacking and pairing up with someone try watch their back, quite literally, if they're moving on one entrance then watch both your flanks like you're expecting it... a LOT of the times a team will have 1 or 2 roamers looking to flank and being over confident.

    - Learn when to back off, if you engage someone and don't get the injure or kill never be afraid to back off (and don't re peak). You've tonnes of other options, so many people insist on re peaking and it makes no sense other than the fact they're getting tunnel vision. I'm already clued into where you are, where you're coming from and so are my team who are now focused on that spot also (as well as roamers now calculating how to flank you).

    - Don't forget to breath, sounds weird but this game has those tense moments where you're leaning forward, getting sweaty and you could hear a mouse fart across a football pitch :-D ... realize when those moments happen, sit back and breath. I always find I over compensate with aim, get way too twitchy and generally F up if I don't calm down.

    - Accept there's a steep learning curve. Playing COD or Battlefield can feel unfair at first seeing as people know these maps inside and out but in siege map knowledge is an even bigger advantage. Some deaths will feel cheap, you'll be pissed but like the point above; just chalk it to learning and enjoy yourself

    :-)

This especially. A headset is absolutely vital for this game. What you can hear is just as important as what you can see.

I'll second that. Best use of surround sound in a game yet as you need to know where that sound came from to stay alive.

I'm getting a bit fed up of PUBG all the time and the friends list doesn't want to play anything else still.

So since I bought this game in Jan 2017 I think its about time i started playing it.

If there's anyone on Xbox playing, give me an add.

I have a really good headset, but it was not 7.1. I bought a 7.1 surround headset yesterday and it does make a difference but what makes a bigger difference to the point of cheating is the Turtle Beach 7.1 DTS with that superhuman hearing mode.

I honestly taught it was pure marketing bull**** and I bought the headset for the 7.1 DTS but its NOT, its actually works too well. Anyone looking for a headset would do well to check it out as basically it culls all the bull**** noise out and amplifies the little things like footsteps and talking or "fidgeting" as was said earlier. You can hear drones being thrown out a level above you and working its way down the stairs as I found out in house last night!!!

Another note for new lads, pay no attention to the clowns who are already dead constantly telling you what to do......happens alot. And dont get upset by the votekick when you dont storm the objective like John McClane when you are the only one left against 5!!!!

That drives me insane - your other 4 teammates die in the first 20 seconds, but then they vote to kick you because you only managed to kill 4 enemies in the 5v1.

Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 50P

Would these be a good model or not?

They are a bog standard stereo headset you prolly get better for the money. Save your money and get a better set. Even the old sony wireless 1st gen wireless headset is better for only 20 euro more. They have virtual 7.1 and you can download the app in PSN for games.

You'd probably get a better headset alright, HyperX Cloud's etc are brilliant.

But there's nothing wrong with stereo. Virtual 7.1 is a gimmick imo and I never use it.

Give me a good quality stereo headset any day

    Wonda-Boy VS. Miskyboyy.

    Epic showdown.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

Like most things in life you get what you pay for....

7.1 is far from a gimmick, if poorly implemented then it can sound rubbish. I have had both good and bad 7.1 headsets but when done properly they are very good or when you have hardware 7.1 over software it can sound amazing.

Best bang for buck headset is prolly the HyperX Cloud II in smyths for 89 euro.

I have the official PS headset 2.0. I believe it's 7.1 also. Not the coolest looking thing in the world put folds up nicely for storage and is comfortable to wear.

I have the Sony official headset here too, not the Gold one the other one before the new platinum. Its a really good headset with virtual surround sound (VSS) its not 7.1 but its a good headset.

I have it 2 yrs and the ear cups are flaking and the sponge on the top has ripped along the seem. Cant really argue after 2 yrs hard use, but it still sounds perfect.

The new Sony platinum headset is not great at all, 2 lads I game with have them and dont like them at all.

Jaysus I dont know what it is lately but the amount of toxic players and team kills has gone through the roof......they need to remove friendly fire altogether or ban team killers for a week.

    Its getting out of hand.

Need to play more ranked to get away from the "Riff-Raff".....lol
