Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well, a size 6 woman can be curvy so that's kind of a different thing.

    Curvy women are beautiful.

the word Curvy gets over used far too much in recent years and at times is used as an excuse to justify people being over weight.

you can be curvy and still be a size 10 or a size 12, however a woman thats "plus size" isnt curvy, she normally is obese.

No, I am trying to help you understand that everyone has different vices, be it a sweet tooth or a penchant for betting on the horses or smoking 50 cigarettes a day. It is incredibly easy for me to say to a smoker, ''just stop smoking, it's bad for your health, you are causing other people harm with your passive smoking, it is as simple as not lighting up''. It is easy for me to say that as a non-smoker, because I'm not addicted to nicotine, and I could just as easily tell someone who enjoys having a drink to put the bottle of vodka down, because I don't feel like I desperately need a drink.

Everyone has to try to exercise self-control when it comes to eating, of course they do, but for some people it is more difficult than for others, as food is their particular vice, the thing that they do to relax/comfort themselves/ as a form of socialisation (meeting people and going for a meal), recreation - cooking and enjoying what you make.

However, I am not saying that this means that it is impossible for someone who is overweight to lose weight, as I have lost a lot of weight myself, even though food is definitely one of my vices, so I am not excusing people who are overweight, I am merely trying to explain to you that people have different vices and it affects how difficult it is for them to remain dedicated to a healthy eating plan.

Exactly. Everyone... (all of us) have vices and weaknesses and obstacles that get in the way. Did you think you were telling me something I don't already know?

But not everyone puts the same effort and dedication into getting past those issues. Some people like to blame everyone else and look for excuses!

And then you have the apologists and enablers who often make it doubly difficult for them, by indulging those excuses. (and suggesting a few more too)

Just because some of us on here can see through the BS excuses, doesn't mean we think of ourselves as being perfect or faultless.

That's just the typical knee jerk reaction that most people have when anyone has the nerve to call someone out on their BS...

You're right, it's incredibly simple to tell someone to eat healthier and exercise more. But it's also the one thing most people don't want to hear... they want ANYTHING else rather than that advice.

People who are allergic to hard work and self discipline, will latch onto literally anything else rather than that advice.

You think it's very simple and obvious, and that most people are already aware of it... but so many people run away from it and put their faith in other things. (usually gimmicks)

It might be obvious advice, but so many people are going around in denial. Praying for some miracle or magic bullet... and there is an army of people trying to sell them that miracle.

That's why it's very important to keep cutting through the lies and BS... even if it makes you very unpopular. It's the right thing to do.

When I see lies/excuses/gimmicks/fraudsters etc... it makes me angry and frustrated, because I know many people will put their trust in that bad advice.

Maybe we should just stop caring and let people believe whatever BS they want...!? Mutually assured destruction! Is that the answer??

Personally I like curvy girls and even girls who are a little on the fatter side.

Don't get me wrong, I like thin girls too.

I just like having some bum and boobs to look at and feel.

    This x 1,000,000.

To me, curves on a slim frame is by far the most attractive body type. Think the female professionals on Dancing with the Stars and you have a) my definition of "curvy" and b) my ideal body type

Overweight women signal wealth? First I've heard of it, and a total contradiction to the stereotype being bandied about in this thread so far?

Not sure what the race thing is about, there are many people of all colours who are sexually attracted to people of all colours who are overweight?

But you say there's a 'certain' race that prefer overweight wealthy women?

    Bizarre, vague, and utter nonsense.

Worked out my own BMI (34) and did a quick search online to see how other people with the same BMI as myself looked. At 4' 11" and 12 stone in weight this lady is technically obese at a BMI of 34 but I'd certainly take her out on a date any day of the week.

I think wrong expression was used, it should be cultures not races. There are cultural differences and different cultures geographically and historically do prefer different body shapes. Larger body could symbol wealth or fertility.

On different subject, I hate word curvy with passion. It belongs to the same group of words as bubbly (if you can't use proper name for the variety of sparkling wine then don't drink it), lippy (seriously) or fab.

Meh, I don't really mind if someone overweight refers to themself as curvy. People get way too worked up about that, IMO. It doesn't affect anyone else if someone refers to themself that way, even if it is inaccurate. (And it's not always inaccurate. Even when Nigella Lawson was quite overweight, she was still hourglass shaped)

Why should anyone who is overweight have to justify their appearance to anyone else? Why would you think someone called themself curvy is an excuse? That implies having to explain themselves to someone.

It's a bit like saying "I hate when people describe themselves as white, they're pink".

Unless of course they literally have chalky white skin.

I have to hold my hands up and admit that, as a woman who considers herself curvy in the genuine sense of the word (5'7", 9s 12lb, size 8/10, 34DD-26-35), curvy as a euphemism for fat *does* bother me.

Bulges are not curves, sorry. And looking curvy while spanxed and girdled to within an inch of your life doesn't count either. Mind you, that applies to women at all points on the weight spectrum.

    Anyway, let the opprobrium commence.

Why though? Someone erroneously referring to themselves as curvy doesn't detract from the figure of the girl who is genuinely curvy. Her figure isn't any less desirable because someone overweight self-described as curvy.

I had to look up that word as given your stats, I was left very confused... :o

I don't think anyone can criticise that tbh!

I think it's because people don't really knoe what curvy means anymore. The word is essentially meaningless now, if Beth Ditto is "curvy" but so is Jennifer Lawrence. It ties into the creeping normalisation of being overweight for me, I think. The fact of the matter is that a lot of people can't actually identify what's overweight and what's not anymore.

Actually, reading your post reminded me of the oft trotted out "real woman", or "real man" nonsense, as if somehow everyone else is just a poor facsimile of some sort?

That, to me is the kind of delusion being marketed by idiots, for idiots.

Don't really get the objections to people describing themselves or others that are a bit fat as 'curvy' either. Sure no harm. When people start going on about 'real women' makes me want to smack them upside the head though. I dunno, curvy, just people trying to make themselves feel better I guess. 'Real women' is just fvcking catty and snide though.

There was approximate calculation we used to have. Substract 110 from your height in cm and you get your slim weight in kg, substract 120 and you get model weight but you need decent height for that.

At 150 cm and 77kg the girl in the link is 4 stone overweight.

I think overweight women who self-describe as curvy know very well that they are overweight and say it to make themselves feel better. As for the word changing meaning, possibly, but welcome to the evolution of language!

If the attached is the image of the girl that's being talked about (rather than the lady at the piano), she's also clearly overweight. I may not have pinned her as obese, but definitely overweight. Still very pretty, but this "technically" bollocks is just that - bollocks. If someone is clearly overweight, why say they're "technically" overweight. They are, simple as.

Meh, I dunno if they would tbh, I think it's more dependent upon the person who they're saying it to, than the gender of the person who's saying it. I've often said things to women that I'd never repeat on here, because I know I don't have to be so careful with my friends, who wouldn't be trying to take what I say out of context.
