    STRANDRÄUBER IRONMAN 70.3 RUEGEN

    Six foot swell.
    High winds.
    Diluvial rains.

Swim going ahead. Two pros pulled out before 500m. Rest of pros took 8-10 minutes to cover 500m.

Thought you might like that Kurt.

Fran entered it a few weeks ago so doesn't sell out.

Also IM Wales is a brutal swim this year people 10 minutes or so slower. And the bike seems to be brutal too. Visions of people complaining about Challenge Galway next year, suppose thats why I always said don't do an im in ireland :)

I just looked at the Finish line in Tenby, you can still see the sea in the background looking very angry and the camera is barely keeping still in the wind.

Don't worry Renville is quite sheltered.

Swell doesn't look too bad. Good to see a proper challenging swim going ahead.

A few real pro' s there; face-planting in ankle-deep water!

Nice bit of chop, nothing too lumpy, was it?

Looks more 'fun' than anything else!!!!

It was anything but. Video does not do it justice and you get a much better view from the pier. Even 500mtrs out the swell and current was unreal. Not good when you see a pro being pulled out of the water 300mtrs in and others struggling.

I will stick up a race report when i get a moment.

Except for the pier full of onlookers it looks like the last Howth aquathon.

Your getting some mileage out of that pro. By tomorrow he'll have been helicoptered out after 50m

It got rougher later in the day. There was swell but it was ok. About 40 pulled from swim.
