    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Resistance is futile. Summer is coming. Go for it, Zebra

Keep it in good condition and sell it this time next year for pretty much the same as you're paying now. Tax + insurance is 100 / month. Petrol for a decent spin would cost you less than the price of a few pints and DIY maintenance on a car like this is the price of a good night out once or twice a year

    Go on!!!

Pop up lights from the first gen look very dated now imho. Second gen looks so much fresher. Luggage rack looks daft though, I'd get rid of that straight away :D

    I still prefer 1st gen.

For a 1998 car Gvido I think the design has aged very well.

I already have a convertible :pac: it makes no sense at all to but that. I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket at the moment and I'll do something stupid if I'm not careful:P

    What an absolute bargain though...

Not mocking you or anything! It's incredibly ugly and for 1500 you could do a lot better.

Ah yeah but I believe classic insurance will sway people :)

Makes sense for the summer if you are looking for something tested and taxed and eligible for classic insurance, i.e ready to put the kids in the back and go off. Its cheap enough

    I'd say it's easier to get a '98 MX-5 on classic insurance than a '90 Escort...

The only reason your man is asking so much for the Escort is that it is only 4 years away from Classic Tax. This ups the value of the car by hundreds.

Test for a year, tax for three months, one owner from new and 19k miles! Not overly cheap but you could pay €6/700 for a fairly rugged one any day of the week.

Mechanically yes they are very cheap to maintain. The bodywork let's them down though. They are very prone to rust and in locations that can are hidden and can cause them to become dangerous. For example the front chassis legs are prone to rot on them from the inside out. This is a big issue that effects a lot of these mx5 and is well hidden by road dirt and so on. It's only when people go poking with screwdrivers that they notice this major issue.

Picked this one up last night. '05 Focus 1.6 Steel. Same owner from new, all the old NCT certs present, new NCT to Mar '17, 112K miles, excellent overall condition, was asking €1950, settled for €1600. Lovely driver, feckin' delighted with it :)

Nice saloon for the money. What does the Steel version give over an ordinary one? Is it just the steel alloys?

I'm not that familiar with them if I'm honest. It has A/C which I wasn't expecting but apart from that I dunno :o

Wow, she is super clean and I really like the color. I always wondered if one really needs A/C in Ireland?

I won't buy a car without it, doesn't matter about the country cause it can be used in Ireland too and it helps demist the car quickly.

Yeah, something we don’t get a lot of here in the desert :D

Even during the summer here I never use the A/C in the truck

If you've had a car with A/C it's awful hard getting used to not having it again after.

The focus I bought a few weeks ago has it, can't wait for the weather to actually need it.

Even in the winter you should use it. The car warms so much quicker if you have the AC on with the temp up.
