    Livelier than a primera... 2004 1.8 156 with 111K and NCT till 02/17 for €1,450.

Full service history and leather too.

    YjM3ODY1ZjVmNDJhNGIyYTBiMGRjZTY2NmIwZDU4NTcl0EN6aymExPCVxxDB21oQaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b181MzA5MjI0MXx8fDYwMHg2MDB8fHx8fHx8fA==.jpeg

For a few quid more a very nice looking (but lower powered ) ti spec in unusual blue:

Toyota Yaris Nct 01/17 Tax 12/16
Suspiciously low miles but a Claimed service history, I'd be wary but still at 850 with test till 2017 and tax till December it'd be hard go wrong as long as it was mechanically sound. If it turns out to be genuine then it's an absolute bargain

Another something for the summer. These ones [the cabrio] were built by Pininfarina in Italy and don't tend to rust like the hatchbacks do. Or so I've been told.

    Sweet!

For sale for a while now ("today passed NCT test" - it passed 6 weeks ago). Might pick it up for a grand?

    Ex taxi 2006 Sonata 2.0 auto with 280k. €850

And 2.5 months "tax" left :D

Somehow I'd say that car has serious issues and won't pass an NCT (due in just 5 weeks). If I'm wrong, it's an absolute steal.

Removed it as I thought the NCT was 2017, not 2016. No shots* of interior, so it could be rough.

Not quite the bargain without at least 6 months of nct.

edit* The one shot there is suggests its poor. dunno why.

There was no need to remove it! Even with a few niggles not costing a fortune, that car was a lot of value for money and certainly deserving of a place in this thread!

    Bangernomics update!

I put it through nct today after 8 months of trouble free driving - just one day before it was to expire:eek:

First attempt and passed no problem :D Front bushes only suggested to be looked at, but not too bad. And advisory on tires that I am to sort soon, too.

    Well done me:D

That's great news! The C208 is as stylish and elegant as any of the Mercedes-Benz coupes of previous generations. Love the looks of your car. Today your Mercedes coupe would set you back a week's wages. 25 years ago the equivalent generation model would have set you back at least three months wages. Seriously.

@wonski - well done. Good bangernomics. Cool car too :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

    Thanks guys:D

I don't want to drag it off topic (but it is on topic really).

Car has its advantages - modern and comfortable enough when compared to what I could get by going into my bank and spending €€€ on something that wouldn't drive significantly better, and wouldn't necessarily be equipped better.

I am not being laughed at when parking at work either, and sometimes even get complements. How cool is that when you drive a car for €800. Not that it matters, but still...

That nct being passed first time means I have an extra budget to finally get rid of the annoying EML light (airflow meter throwing up an error all the time).

The tester was nice chap and did mention that overall the car is in great nick, and the front bushes were the only part in suspension needing attention (that I knew about btw - had the car serviced last week - including iridium plugs that were €60 per set - and aux belt replaced, but we couldn't get other parts on time so postponed it).

Feels good, now to fight the rust, but - as mentioned above - no retest means few euros in piggybank to play with :D

That leg operated handbrake, though:mad: Only makes sense in auto... useless piece of .... Learned to live with that.

The ad is a bit light on details, but a run-out model 406 HDI with 12 months tax and test for €1300. Low miles too, and if carsireland.ie is to be believed, two owners.

So someone just spent €710 to tax the car for the year upfront and then decide to sell it? Most unusual!

Unusual indeed but I would have full confidence in that being a very genuine car.

I've always found that people who put their full name on the ad tend to have little or no experience of selling a car privately. Have nothing to hide, even.

Its very easy to pick up on, and that ad has the hallmarks..

Only one picture. The back of it might look like this ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,903 ✭✭✭cadaliac

I'm also sceptical why they didn't tax it for 3months, for €200. Taxing it for €710 and then selling for an asking price of €1300, possibly willing to take €1100 or thereabouts, leaves very little profit.
Unless there is a very good reason for it, I'd be wary.

I'd also be wary of a 406 Hdi with just over 100,000 miles on-board. But, that's just pure speculation.....

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/peugeot-406-rapier-90-hdi/11777425 €950

All with NCT, around country , none as good a deal (on surface) as the first one with all the tax paid. (Btw, one has 200k miles! That's a maintained car!). Still, the Tipperary car isn't mad cheap, and I wouldn't expect to negotiate much off, any of ones I linked should have a few quid to knock off.
... I wish after all the discussion there was a way to find out who's right: is it a genuine motor? Is it a lemon?
Of course, there is but it costs about a grand :-)

^^^ the years have been good to the Pug 406. Still looks sharp.

Especially the alloys on the red one.

Clean auto 320d Msport €1200 test till 17 and a bit of tax too. Looks clean and it's a grand colour. The nurburgring sticker is off putting but the auto box might have put off the usual rooters ;)

Not convinced* its factory msport, but if its not someone has gone to good lengthts to convert so could be well minded and decent car at the money.

    * no air con or rear elec windows and its lci so that would have been es spec

Edit - See Millingtons post on top of next page.
I thought climate control and rear elec windows were standard on the e46 lci - he says no.

Probably dickied up so but it does look very clean, I didn't do too much looking at it tbh just seen it was taxed and had a fresh test and was a desirable colour it's still a fair car for the money given the usual auto diesels of that price range.

Oh defo. Not against you at all.

Compared to the price and condition of some lci e46 advertised it is a good spot.

Very well done (dickied up) as it has the headlining and all.

There is something in my head as well about the front bumper but Peroni is not allowing me to word it :-)

Could be a good buy once someone knows what they getting.

Very nice, but has probably already been for sale for a while. No tax left and few people would want to pay €1,080 per year. Sounds crazy but I reckon he needs to drop the price right down to 3 figures...

A lot of early 320d Msports didn't have rear electrics or climate control. Mostly Irish ones and with that low reg number I'd assume thats an Irish car.
