Well, a disappointing Bangernomics morning, with 2 hours of my time wasted.
Rang and he asked to meet at 12, went down to Lucan, guy gave vague directions to his place.
Ended up waiting around for 50 mins, he wasn't answering his phone.
In the end my brother, who was with me to bring my current car home, rang and he picked up immediately, at which point he asked if we'd wait another 40 mins for him.
My brother then used some colourful language.
A great pity, it was such a gorgeous car, but if a seller is willing to be an @sshole about something like a meetup, what does it say about the car he is trying to sell?
He may call me back, unless he's willing to bring it to show to me he can keep it.

    There's nothing worse.

cash in your back pocket, you've been looking forward to it for days, dreaming of striking a fair deal, driving it home and giving it a good wash and posting a few pics of your new pride and joy here.

    been there.

it's hard to understand why, but it seems to happen a lot that people advertise their cars and have no intention of selling them. i wouldn't take it now if it was free.

and the original ad says "no timewasters"

Slight bit of cosmetic damage so I don't know if it qualifies for bangernomics , but it has test and is an Audi A3 2005 under budget and room for haggling still.

Going to see this in the morning.
According to the seller it also has 140k miles on it, but it's running perfectly and is happy for it to checked at a local garage of my choosing too.
And it's the 150bhp 1.9tid, and for €1,700 as well
    YjdiMGMzYmE3YmNlZTAyODY3MDQ0ZmJlMjkyOWIwZTP9egGrINgzrDQeJ8C6OIBtaHR0cDovL3MzLWV1LXdlc3QtMS5hbWF6b25hd3MuY29tL2RvbmVkZWFsLmllLXBob3Rvcy9waG90b181NzcxMzcyN3x8fDYwMHg2MDB8fHx8fHx8fA==.jpeg

Looks like a bargain. Check dmf, dpf, front springs, swirl valves, and the alternator too!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

It's sold already. I'd say there was more to it, CiDeRmAn. Maybe someone offered him good money last night after you arranged to see it, who knows.

Anyway, plenty of fish in the bangernomics sea :D

You doing sufficient mileage to justify the risks of buying a bangernomics diesel? Limiting yourself to a Saab or does anything that size go? We'll keep an eye out if you let us know what you're after!

My better half was not in favour of the 9-3, she wants me to get something far newer and less mad... and by this she means a Dacia Stepway or similar.
Me, I'd prefer something more individual and interesting.
Certainly that 9-3 qualifies, plus such small money that not such a worry if it only lasts the year.

Edit: I might give this person a shout tomorrow morning, go and have a look, you never know, he/she might even turn up!

Reminds me of going to buy car vague description of location on phone ask to meet at garage and he bring me up to house as difficult to find.
30.mins later I Arrived at garage at agreed time no sign of seller phone off. Just wasted my time

I was selling a Honda Accord, and an Africian gentleman from Dublin called and agreed to come view it. I told him we would meet in Cavan town at Tractamotors garage at a given time. No show at the time so waited a half hour. I get an irate phone call enquiring my whereabouts. He was sitting at the roadside 30 miles away on the Meath border, beside a sign saying "Welcome to Cavan"!
Thought it very hard to come the rest of the distance!

Apart from it not being able to be driven away (doesn't meet the thread criteria :P) how much could it potentially cost to get a replacement key?
    Another 1k?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,597 ✭✭✭emeldc

I know the mileage is a typo with an extra zero and should be 150,100 but the picture says 152,540. Jaysus, make an effort.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,239 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

Seems amazing that you wouldn't just get the key made before selling it on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,597 ✭✭✭emeldc

Can you turn on the dash lights without a key?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,349 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I am in fact selling a collection of Ferrari's, Lambo's, Audi's, Mercs & BMW's that I have also lost the keys for!

They are currently parked in the carpark at Dubai international airport, all covered in lots of dust!

Sadly I can't post here as they've all run out of NCT, but I'll take a grand for each of them..

    '05 Almera
    Test Nov '11

Very low mileage, the NCT disc would appear to back this up.

Looks like it was dragged through a concrete hedge but for the money it's a decent run about.

Asking €595. Suspect 500 notes drives it away.

Cheap for the year, but it looks in brutal condition and the scrapes are nasty. Last tested nearly 2 years ago too and you can bet good money that it will not pass next test (due in a bit over 4 months time) without needing work. I'd give it a massive miss myself ;)

Wouldn't give €200 for it tbh...

So, went ahead and bought this.
Spent an additional €40 and got a garage to give the car a once over.
They said it's a solid straight car. They were impressed with the engine and everything else.
Take his hand off, to use their phrase.
Driving home the only issue was the CD player not working, keeps ejecting the CD, hopefully a simple fix.
It also is telling me the passenger should belt up, when there's no one there, and that an indicator light is blown, when it isn't. Nothing to worry about, they are cleared with the touch of a button.
    Thanks for finding btw!
Made up for the messing around earlier yesterday!
