The galaxy is next door to me..all it needs is a steering rack. It's tested till end of the year, has 2 brand new tyres and the 1.9tdi engine and gearbox are in good shape. The timing belt was done this year too.. but the seller can't even get 300 for it as it stands.

Have you a link to the Galaxy?

Exactly. It makes me realise how much I've wasted on over priced mundane cars over the years... That freelander is fantastic.

Isn't the Freelander suppose to be unbelievably unreliable?

Nah, the petrol ones weren't the mae West and the early diesels, but the facelift - particularly with the bmw designed engine are pretty good I believe. Damn cheap because of the perception of them too :)

The MX5 would be the pick for me, reliability!

180 K miles on the TT, they would need to have been fastidious with oil service.

RX8...... for the fearless is right but very rewarding.

    Mazda 3 Sport

Always had a soft spot for these.
    2.0 tested till March17
Low miles supposedly with a service history.
    Clean body too.
    Asking €1850
I'd be aiming for the €1500 mark

It's annoying that they mention bad paint work on drivers side but there's no clear picture given. If this is being mentioned up front in the hope it won't be brought up at inspection...it just won't work.

Also driver's seat a bit worn for 100k miles

Two exhausts means nothing, plenty of them have that as an aftermarket mod. You'd need the vin or a pic of the engine bay! Not that it matters much performance wise except the 225BHP BAM engine is the strongest of them all

@landmarkjohn - the TT is very well put together and the 1.8 Turbo engines are strong. The 185k or so miles (just shy of 300k km) wouldn't bother me if the engine seems to be running fine...

    This certainly isn't beautiful.
2000 Focus diesel with fierce low miles.
Hard put a price on it...
    Test Nov '16
    Asking €1,700
Tread carefully I think and don't get dazzled by the mileage.
Doctors car sitting for 16 years only doing 21,000 miles.
Multiple drivers I assume. I would be hard pressed to buy it. More posting it for opinions to be honest.!

I'm loving my '05 9.3, bought from a post here, 1.8 petrol model, and only €950 as well.
And in 18/24 months will probably get at least that when I sell it on, before buying another one, it's superb.
I could have went for a new Dacia or a Renault, but who wants to drive such a mediocre vehicle when you can drive something with far more class for roughly a third of the deposit on one of those new cars.
    Bangernomics all the way!

I have a 16 year old BMW 318i saloon on classic insurance. Not collectable by any standard. Not specialist and certainly not high performance. And I do NOT have a separately insured daily driver...

    I am over 25 though :p

Can I ask which insurance co? I had this problem before, I wanted to buy a classic but my daily driver is a motorbike and any insurance co I rang wouldnt accept a motorbike as a daily driver even though thats what I do with the thing!

Also if a classic is under 30 years old does that mean normal motor tax or are there any reductions? Would love a 4.0 classic Jag or similar but not really prepared to fork €2k on tax for something thats a Sunday driver

Off topic, but I have a '05 MK1 TT (1.8T petrol) with ~138k miles on it. It's in good nick and service history is fine. Any idea of a ballpark amount I might get for it?

Got it cheap off my mom (:o) so I'm none the wiser, and there isn't a great selection online to compare against.
