Go for it, it's the tax that has made that a bargain. If we had tax on the fuel instead I imagine that would three/four times the price.

I just don't like the comment , No warning lights on dash .that just has me wondering what did he clear .

I am just try to talk myself out buying it any excuse :D

    The original sentence was probably
No warning lights on the dash anymore since I removed the relevant bulbs

Ah lads that Jag is scandalous. I'm getting paid next week and I'd really consider it. I'm 3/4 the country away though so I'd want to be sure to be getting it to drive to Cork.

Probably OK, but being a JDM car insurance may be a little restrictive.
Check the timing chain is OK.

    Same here.

I never told my wife how much the Lexus was to tax but she gave out saying that bloody thing costs 800 a year to tax, little does she know it cost twice that..:D

That Jag is for nothing though!

Which tax rate does the Jag qualify for?
    €1494 pa or €1809 pa?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,350 ✭✭✭Cortina_MK_IV

    €1,494 pa.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,454 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

can someone please point out some known & expensive problems with this type of car because I'm dangerously tempted at that price, and I know shag all about Jags only that I'd love one :D

The auto ones are meant to be a bit iffy. I had a manual one for a year and loved it. Was getting around 30mpg. The manual is quite fast.

That passenger airbag looks like it's being deployed at some stage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,454 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Think that's common enough on 147s for the cover not to be fitting right.

The first thing I'd ditch. A good brand radio isn't much more to buy these days. :)

Just get her into it for a little drive. Woman is wild and wilful, but can be tamed by the purr of a Jaguar. ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,454 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

It would be a fair % of the price of that car though John!

Five-speed Ford 5R55N autoboxes are notoriously intolerant of not having regular changes of hideously expensive ATF and have an only partially-justified reputation for causing all sorts of bother. The 2003 facelift included a rather better six-speed ZF unit. Manual 'boxes are lifted from old Fordson tractors and can withstand nuclear attack.

And yes, it might be a lardy old Petunia, but it can hitch up it's skirts and give 'em Tee-Dee-red-fcukan-Eye when necessary. :D

Relatively cheap to run, retro cool and strong as an ox. Oh and it'll only go up in value from Here on in. Test worth talking about too.
