I know this is over the bangernomics limit (so sue me), but if you were going to do an LPG conversion anyway then it would come in under budget. I know for a fact that it has been well looked after ;) 3 months tax and 5 months NCT would keep you going for a while.

That is a tiny sum, in fairness!

A bit pricey, but this looks lovely. 1.8t Bora with 78k miles and it looks mint. That interior is really lovely! Great spec too. NCT to 3/17 for €1850

"wolf in sheeps clothing" from memory they are just 150BHP? :p

Fine engine and that Bora is far from slow, but in the Golf / TT of the time the engine had 180BHP / 225BHP

How about a minty BMW 318Ci. Same year as the Bora, similar power, similar low mileage, but longer NCT and lower asking price of just €1,500

Now, which one is the better car, better driving, costing less to own and far more easy on the eye? :)

Orientblau metallic, it still is a lovely colour. My '96 735i had it and my recent fixer upper '00 318i too.

The wheels wouldn't be my choice to put it mildly, but the designers got this car spot on. Beautiful lines and of course September is a great month for buying a convertible.

Low miles, belt done, asking €1,850

I wouldn't fancy it myself but an 08 reg and a long NCT might appeal to some, the fact it's a Tiida would be enough to put me off before considering the not too small mileage.... still, if I was badly stuck for €1650 asking...

Wow, that [a4] is lovely and an absolute bargain. I love anything with red leather interior :P

Those wheels though! Even on an S8 they don't look right..

Drive it on the Côte d'Azur and people will think it's a €10k+ car

Not here it isn't. Asking just €1,750. Needs some minor tlc, you'd have to find out what the hell they are on about there though

My sister is in the market for an A6 / A8 and she's going to spend more than 10 times the bangernomics budget. And the one thing she demands is that it has gold wheels

That was my mistake, Pat. The url of the image didn't copy over, so I had a few goes at it before it was right

I take it you thought it was the previous E36 model? Was never a fan of those either. In fact I never really liked the looks of any BMW 3-series until the E46 coupe

    No warranty and they're a dealer, 285k kms on a Kompressor. I'd say it's sh@gged.

BTW my TT is still for sale. Wife doesn't like me having 3 cars so it needs to go. Bangernomics limit, but not a cent less, would take it.

    That's a beauty.
Great buy for someone at €2k.

Over the next 2/3 years it would be very cheap motoring.

Really like these, strong enough money but you'll be a unique enough sight on the road.

If they are a dealer then they cannot say that, but the fact that they do should be incentive enough to give them a wide berth.

Although the 2.0 Kompresspr in that model is not that bad - the 1.8 is the particularly troublesome one.

But I agree, it could very well be shagged. But more than likely it will be something to do with the gearbox or the hood.

Some cars! Most of his cars seem overpriced, but a 2010 Alfa 159 diesel for €4k (needing a repair to the front bumper) seems good value!

Two diesel e46's that appear to be decent value.

01 320d looks clean and appears to be a decent spec'd example.
    test till april17
    Asking €700

    04 318d
Test till Jan17 and a few weeks tax.
Again seems to be alright of a spec and it isn't too rough.
Mark on rear drivers wheel arch.
    Asking €900

Both the above don't have swirl flaps and they aren't common rail engines either.

The 318 ci seems like a nice motor, but what are they like to live with? My own car is acting the mick at the moment with the pas leaking and just being a dick lately in general. It's not worth the effort with it anymore I've spent enough airgéad on her in my ownership. Just looking for a bangernomics special that is comfy and has a bit of overtaking power and is easy enough on the eye.

They're lovely cars. Sporty yet a comfy ride and they're very well put together.
The prefacelift's are very cheap presently but they are a bit underpowered only 118hp from a 2.0 was poor for the time and they're not a light car either.
Head gasket and head issues are a known issue but not massively common either.
The facelift models have a stronger more powerful 16v engine which produces 140bhp and suits the car much better than the older 8v design. The head gasket issue is far less common with this engine too.
If ya can find one go for a clean facelift 318ci msport.

Won't set the world alight with that old 1.3 Endura - but its a low mileage tidy looking car with NCT to 6/17 for €475. I have a bit of a soft spot for these things

    +1

If you like driving, go for one with the factory sport suspension (not necessarily the m-sport)

The pre-facelift 318Ci is a bit underpowered (it's a 1.9 BTW, not a 2l), but if you push it on a bit and keep it well over 3k rpm, it's perfectly fine. But no, you won't win many traffic light races with it :p

Plenty of very low spec Irish cars around, so if you don't like that, beware. I don't really care that much about spec myself

I have one at the moment, 318Ci Sport, it has a decent spec and it might be up for sale soon too :p
