Its literally all that goes on them and was solved with the 2004 upgrade. Still, not much comfort if it's gone wrong on you. It has led to many of them being scrapped.

Haven't heard of trouble before, but admittedly I have never researched it. I kind of presumed it was reliable because it was Japanese

    Expensive or easy fixes?

/takes diesel auto 75/ZT off shortlist of future bangenomics purchases or how could someone make sure you got the upgrade car, ba_barabus?

I think it was sorted on 75s built from 03 onwards but it was definitely fixed on the face lift model. I'll check later when I'm home

Mileage looks scary in kilometers, but long NCT and it could polish up nice.

These do feel very flimsy in every possible way, but for zipping around town etc, it'd be cheap to buy and cheaper to run.

Did Toyota do the engine in these seeing as it's chain driven or was the whole car a colaboration effort?

Now there's a Toyota I'd genuinely buy and drive. They do feel flimsy but most in this segment do so that's a moot point. Drove one before briefly and thought the 3 cylinder engine was good craic. No idea about who makes the engine though.

I like the Aygo/107/C1 model. It doesn't pretend to be something that it's not, simple basic cheap motoring. Not sure Id want to do 200k km in one though! :D

Solenoids are a cheap and easy fix but many mechanics will diagnose it as needing reconed box. A cracked reverse piston is a bigger problem and would make a bangernomics purchase a write off really unless you planned getting 2/3 years use out of the fixed car.

there isn't a huge amount of auto gearbox specialists in Ireland.

1200 euros of usable reliable daily fun.

You can pick up a hardtop to replace the soft top, makes it a quieter car and less like you are on your lunch break from Peter Marks.

driven a couple of them and they seem pretty unrefined. i know 3 cylinders are never exactly smooth but i was kind of surprised at how off beat it was, maybe i've just been in bad examples. you'd wonder why Toyota didn't keep going with the 4cyl 1.0

The 4 Cylinder is better in almost every way but I didn't think the 3 cylinder was that unrefined as 3 cylinder engines go. Maybe it is though, or it could be lack of sound proofing in the aygo.

Nice Audi A4 TDL :pac: very detailed advert and it's gas how you can tell it was owned by an eastern european by the model of car combined with limo tinted windows before i even seen his name. still, could be worth a look with the guts of a years test.

smart looking C-Class coupe. 9 months test, 4 months tax and a service history, apparently.

NCT very short but to it's credit, it is taxed until the end of next month. That could be a good sign. Worth a punt if you're confident it will pass the test without any work...

No rev counter. It's a while since I've seen that :D

    I had the estate version.
Another thing you won't have seen for a while, no power steering!

Aye that never bothered me though. I'm old skool, learned to drive in a car without P/S and back then, most cars didn't have it.

I need to buy something small asap, €500 or less preferably with some NCT and in Dublin. There's not much out there from what I can see.

Posted this a couple of days ago and came across what appeared to be a serious bargain on DoneDeal this evening - 96 Seat Ibiza with 90k miles, in decent shape driving perfectly with 6 months NCT, 7 months tax and a full tank of petrol - all for €300! I didn't even haggle with him, truth be told I'd have probably paid €500 for it. I'll post a few pictures tomorrow, very happy with my bangernomics purchase :)

Last time I sat in a car without power steering I thought the lock is on and tried to move the key in the ignition:D

Unless you park your car in tight spots 10 times a day it isn't that important to have it, though.

€300 minus €50 worth of petrol and €100 worth of tax. Basically a free car

    Well wear!

Tyres have got a lot chunkier since the pre power steering days. I still think everyone should learn to drive without power steering, they get a much better feel for the car.

I don't. I paid exactly that for a 03 model with 79k on the clock a few months back.

The price could be associated to the cult following, rarity and fun factor of the retro model. At present it's infinitely more fun than a 02 model although it may not have some of the creature comforts.

Japplate on an Irish car would have me worried though.

Had a few cars back in the day with no PS, but I used to drive a Transit with no PS - some dose to turn it in a yard, but once ur moving it doesn't cost you a thought.
